आदिपुराणम् 'श्रुतेनालंकृतावस्याः कणों पुनरलंकृतामरणविन्यासैः श्रुतदेम्या इवार्चनैः ॥४९॥ ललाटेनाष्टमीचन्द्रचारुणास्या विविधते । मनोजश्रीविलासिन्या दर्पणेनेव हारिणा ॥५०॥ विनीलैरलकैरस्या मुखाब्जे मधुपावितम् । भ्रमयां च निर्जिता सज्या मदनस्य धनुलता ॥५॥ कचमारो बभौ तस्या विनीलटिकावतः । मुखेन्दुप्रासलोभेन विधुतुद इवाश्रितः ॥५२॥ 'विस्वस्तकबरीवन्धविगासुमोक्रैः । सोपहारामिव क्षोणी चक्रे चंक्रमणेषु सा ॥५३॥ 'समसुप्रविमलामिणत्या बपुरुर्वितम् । खीसर्गस्य प्रतिच्छन्दमावेनेव विधिय॑धात् ॥५४॥ सुयशाः सुचिरायुद्ध सुप्रजाच सुमामा ।"पतिवस्नी च या नारी सा तु तामनुवर्णिता ॥५५॥ सा खनिर्गुणरत्वानां साध्वनिः पुण्यसंपदाम् । पावनी भुतदेवीव" सानिधीत्यैव पण्डिता ॥५६॥ सौभाग्यस्य परा कोटि: सौरूप्यस्य परा प्रतिः । "सौहार्दस्य पराप्रीति: सौजन्यस्य परा गतिः ॥५॥ असतिः कामतत्वस्य कलागमसरिस्तुतिः। प्रसूतिर्यक्षसां साऽऽसीत् सतीत्वस्म पराभृतिः॥५॥
वस्थाः किल समुद्राहे सुरराजेन चोदिताः । सुरोत्तमा महाभूत्या चक्र: कल्याणकौतुकम्" ॥५९॥ चाहते हों ॥४८॥ यद्यपि उसके दोनों कान शाल श्रवण करनेसे अलंकृत थे, तथापि सरस्वती देवीको पूजाके पुष्पोंके समान कर्णभूषण पहनाकर फिर भी अलंकृत किये गये थे ।। ४९ ॥ अष्टमीके चन्द्रमाके समान सुन्दर उसका ललाट अतिशय देदीप्यमान हो रहा था और ऐसा मालूम पड़ता था मानो कामदेवकी लक्ष्मीरूपी स्त्रीका मनोहर दर्पण ही हो ॥५०॥ उसके अत्यन्त काले केश मुखकमलपर इकट्ठे हुए भौंरोंके समान जान पड़ते थे और उसकी भौंहोंने कामदेवकी डोरीसहित धनुष-लताको भी जीत लिया था ॥५१॥ उसके अतिशय काले, टेढ़े और लम्बे केशोंका समूह ऐसा शोभायमान होता था मानो मुलरूपी चन्द्रमाको प्रसनेके लोभसे राह ही आया हो॥५२॥ वह मरुदेवी चलते समय कुछ-कुछ ढीली हई अपनी चोटीसे नीचे गिरते हुए फूलोंके समूहसे पृथ्वीको उपहार सहित करती थी ॥५३॥ इस प्रकार जिसके प्रत्येक अंग उपांगकी रचना सुन्दर है ऐसा उसका सुदृढ़ शरीर ऐसा अच्छा जान पड़ता था मानो विधाताने स्त्रियोंकी सृष्टि करनेके लिए एक सुन्दर प्रतिबिम्ब ही बनाया हो ॥५४॥ संसारमें जो त्रियाँ अतिशय यशवाली, दीर्घ आयुवाली, उत्तम सन्तानवाली, मंगलरूपिणी और उत्तम पतिवाली थीं वे सब मरुदेवीसे पीछे थीं, अर्थात् मरुदेवी उन सबमें मुख्य थी ।। ५५ ॥ वह गुणरूपी रत्नोंकी खान थी, पुण्यरूपी सम्पत्तियोंकी पृथिवी थी, पवित्र सरस्वती देवी थी और बिना पढ़े ही पण्डिता थी ॥५६॥ वह सौभाग्यकी परम सीमा थी, सुन्दरताकी उत्कृष्ट पुष्टि थो, मित्रताकी परम प्रीति थी और सज्जनताकी उत्कृष्ट गति (आश्रय ) थी।५७॥ वह कामशाखकी सजेता थी, कलाशाखरूपी नदीका प्रवाह थी, कीर्तिका उत्पत्तिस्थान थी और पातिव्रत्य धर्मकी परम सीमा थी॥५८॥ उस मरुदेवीके विवाहके समय इन्द्र के द्वारा
