छोड़ रहा है। कितने ही इतिहासज्ञ लोगों का अभिमत है कि इन आधुनिक पुराणों की रचना प्रायः ई०३०० से ८०० के बीच में हुई है।
जैसा कि जैनेतर धर्म में पुराणों और उपपुराणों का विभाग मिलता है वैसा जैन समाज में नहीं पाया जाता है । परन्तु जैन धर्म में जो भी पुराण-साहित्य विद्यमान है वह अपने ढंग का निराला है । जहाँ अन्य पुराणकार इतिवृत्त की यथार्थता सुरक्षित नहीं रख सके हैं वहाँ जैन-पुराणकारों ने इतिवृत्त की यथार्थता को अधिक सुरक्षित रखा है, इसलिए आज के निष्पक्ष विद्वानों का यह स्पष्ट मत हो गया है कि 'हमें प्राक्कालीन भारतीय परिस्थिति को जानने के लिए जैन-पुराणों से, उनके कथा-ग्रन्थों से जो साहाय्य प्राप्त होता है वह अन्य पुराणों से नहीं । कतिपय दि० जैन-पुराणों के नाम इस प्रकार हैं :
