अष्टमं पर्व
१८३ प्राग्मेरोगन्धिले देशे प्रत्यक्पुत्री कुटुम्बिनः। पलाकपर्वतग्रामे जाताल्पसुकृतोदयात् ॥१८६॥ तत्रैव विषये भूयः पाटलोग्रामकेऽभवत् । निनामिका वणिक्पुत्री संश्रित्य पिहितास्त्रवम् ॥१८७॥ विधिनोपोष्य तत्रासीत् तव देवी स्वयंप्रमा। श्रीप्रभेऽभूदिदानी च श्रीमती वज्रदन्ततः ॥१८८॥ श्रुत्वेति स्वान् भवान् भूयो भूनाथः प्रियया समम् । पृष्टवानिष्टवर्गस्य भवानतिकुदहलात्॥१८९॥ स्वबन्धुनिर्विशेषां मे स्निग्धा मतिवरादयः । तत्प्रसीद मवानेषां ब्रहीत्याख्यच्च तान् मुनिः ॥१९॥ अयं मतिवरोऽत्रैव जम्बूद्वीपे पुरोगते । विदेहो वत्सकावत्यां विषये त्रिदिवोपमे ॥१९॥ तत्र पुर्या प्रमाकर्यामतिगृद्धो नृपोऽभवत् । विषयेषु 'विषकारमा बहारम्मपरिग्रहैः ॥१९२॥ बद्ध्वायुर्नारकं जातः श्वझे पङ्कप्रमाहये । दशाग्भ्युपमितं कालं नारकी वेदनामगात् ॥१९३॥ ततो निष्पत्य पूर्वोक्तनगरस्य समीपगे । व्याघ्रोऽभूत् प्राक्तनास्मीयधननिक्षेपपर्वते ॥१९॥ अथान्यदा "पुराधीशस्तत्रागत्य" समावसत् । निवर्त्य स्वानुजन्मानं म्युस्थितं विजिगीषया ॥११५॥ स्वानुजन्मानमत्रस्थं नृपमाख्यत्"पुरोहितः । अत्रैव ते महाँल्लामो "भविता मुनिदानतः ॥१९६॥ स मुनिः कथमेवान लभ्याइ आर्थिव । वक्ष्ये तदागमोपायं दिव्यज्ञानावलोकितम् ॥१९॥
नामक ग्राममें किसी वणिक्के निर्नामिका नामकी पुत्री हुई। वहाँ उसने पिहितास्रव नामक मुनिराजके आश्रयसे विधिपूर्वक जिनेन्द्रगुणसम्पत्ति और श्रुतज्ञान नामक व्रतोंके उपवास किये
सके फलस्वरूप श्रीप्रभ विमानमें स्वयंप्रभा देवी हई। जब तुम ललितांगदेवकी पर्यायमें थे तब यह तुम्हारी प्रिय देवी थी और अब वहाँसे चयकर वनदन्त चक्रवर्तीके श्रीमती पुत्री हुई है ।।१८५-१८८। इस प्रकार राजा वनजंघने श्रीमतीके साथ अपने पूर्वभव सुनकर कौतूहलसे अपने इष्ट सम्बन्धियोंके पूर्वभव पूछे ॥१८॥हे नाथ, ये मतिवर, आनन्द, धनमित्र और अकम्पन मुझे अपने भाईके समान अतिशय प्यारे हैं इसलिए आप प्रसन्न होइए और इनके पूर्वभव कहिए । इस प्रकार राजाका प्रश्न सुनकर उत्तर में मुनिराज कहने लगे ॥१९॥
हे राजन् , इसी जम्बूद्वीपके पूर्व विदेह क्षेत्रमें एक वत्सकावती नामका देश है जो कि स्वर्गके समान सुन्दर है, उसमें एक प्रभाकरी नामकी नगरी है। यह मतिवर पूर्वभवमें इसी नगरीमें अतिगृघ्न नामका राजा था। वह विषयोंमें अत्यन्त आसक्त रहता था। उसने बहुत आरम्भ और परिप्रहके कारण नरक आयुका बन्ध कर लिया था जिससे वह मरकर पङ्कप्रभा नामके चौथे नरकमें उत्पन्न हुआ। वहाँ दशसागर तक नरकोंके दुःख भोगता रहा।॥१९१-१९३।। उसने पूर्वभवमें पूर्वोक्त प्रभाकरी नगरीके समीप एक पर्वतपर अपना बहुत-सा धन गाड रखा था । वह नरकसे निकलकर इसी पर्वतपर व्याघ्र हुआ॥१९४॥ तत्पश्चात् किसी एक दिन प्रभाकरी नगरीका राजा प्रीतिवर्धन अपने प्रतिकूल खड़े हुए छोटे भाईको जीतकर लौटा और उसी पर्वतपर ठहर गया ॥१९५।। वह वहाँ अपने छोटे भाईके साथ बैठा हुआ था कि इतनेमें पुरोहितने आकर उससे कहा कि आज यहाँ आपको मुनिदानके प्रभावसे बड़ा भारी लाभ होनेवाला है ।।१९६।। हे राजन् , वे मुनिराज यहाँ किस प्रकार प्राप्त हो सकेंगे। इसका उपाय मैं अपने दिव्यज्ञानसे जानकर आपके लिए कहता हूँ। सुनिए-॥१९७॥
हम लोग नगरमें यह घोषणा दिलाये देते हैं कि आज राजाके बड़े भारी हर्षका समय है इसलिए समस्त नगरवासी लोग अपने-अपने घरोंपर पताकाएँ फहराओ, तोरण बाँधो और

In that country, there was a city called Prabhakari. This Mativara was the King of that city in his past life. His name was Ati Grighna. He was very attached to his kingdom and his possessions. Due to his excessive attachment, he was bound to the hellish life and was born in the fourth hell, Pankaprabha. He suffered the torments of hell for ten Sagaras. ||191-193||

189. In his past life, he had buried a lot of his wealth on a mountain near the city of Prabhakari. After being released from hell, he was born as a tiger on that same mountain. ||194||

190. One day, the King of Prabhakari, Pritivardhan, returned to the city after conquering his rebellious younger brother. He stayed on that same mountain. ||195||

191. While he was sitting there with his younger brother, the Purohit came and told him that he would receive great benefits that day due to the influence of Muni Dan. ||196||

192. "O King, how can we obtain those Muni Rajas? I will tell you the way, as I know it through my divine knowledge. Listen." ||197||
