आदिपुराणम् दोर्विकाम्भो भुवो न्यस्तमिवैकमतिवर्तुलम् । तिलकं दूरताहेतोः प्रेक्षमाणावनुक्षणम् ॥१०॥ क्रमादापततामेती पुरमुत्पलखेटकम् । मन्द्रसंगोतनिधोषयधिरोकृतदिमुखम् ॥१०॥ द्वाःस्थैः प्रणोयमानौ च प्रविश्य नृपमन्दिरम् । महानुपसमासीनं वज्रजामदर्शताम् ॥१०५।। कृतप्रणामौ तौ तस्य पुरो रत्नकरण्डकम् । निचिक्षिपतुरन्तस्थपत्रकं सदुपावनम् ॥१०॥ 'तदुन्मुद्रय तदन्तस्थं गृहीत्वा कार्यपत्रकम् । निरूप्य विस्मितश्चक्रवर्तिप्राणज्यनिर्णयात् ॥१७॥ 'अहो चक्रधरः पुण्यमागी साम्राज्यवैभवम् । त्यक्त्वा दीक्षामुपायंस्त विविक्ताङ्गी वधूमिव ॥१०८॥ भहो पुण्यधनाः पुत्राश्चक्रिणोऽचिन्त्यसाहसाः । अवमत्याधिराज्यं ये समं पित्रा दिदीक्षिरे ॥१.९॥ पुण्डरीकस्तु संफुल्लपुण्डरीकाननयुतिः । राज्ये निवेशितो धुर्य रूहमारे स्तनन्धयः ॥११॥ "मामी च 'सविधान मे प्रतिपालयति व्रतम् । तद्राज्यप्रशमायेति दुर्योधः कार्यसम्मवः ॥ इति निश्रितलेखाः कृतधीः कृत्यकोविदः । स्वयं निर्णीतमर्थ तं श्रीमतीमप्यवोधयत् ॥११२॥ वाचिकेन च संवादं लेखार्थस्य विमावयन् । प्रस्थाने पुण्डरीकिण्या मतिमाधात् स धीधनः ॥११३॥ श्रीमती च समाश्वास्य तद्वार्ताकर्णनाकुलाम् । तया समं समालोच्य प्रयाणं निश्रिचाय सः ॥११४॥
जिससे ऐसे मालूम होते थे मानो सूर्यके सन्तापसे डरकर जमीनमें ही छिपे जा रहे हों । वे बावड़ियोंका जल भी देखते जाते थे। दूरीके कारण वह जल उन्हें अत्यन्त गोल मालूम होता था जिससे ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो पृथ्वीरूप स्त्रीने चन्दनका सफेद तिलक ही लगाया हो.। इस प्रकार प्रत्येक क्षण मार्गकोशोभा देखते हुए वे दोनों अनुक्रमसे उत्पलखेटक नगर जा पहुंचे। वह नगर संगीत कालमें होनेवाले गम्भीर शब्दोंसे दिशाओंको बधिर (बहरा) कर रहा था ।।१००१०४|| जब वे दोनों भाई राजमन्दिरके समीप पहुँचे तब द्वारपाल उन्हें भीतर ले गये । उन्होंने राजमन्दिरमें प्रवेश कर राजसभामें बैठे हुए वनजंघके दर्शन किये ॥१०५।। उन दोनों विद्याधरोंने उन्हें प्रणाम किया और फिर उनके सामने, लायी हई भेट तथा जिसके भीतर पत्र रखा हुआ है ऐसा रत्नमय पिटारा रख दिया ॥१०६।। महाराज वनजंघने पिटारा खोलकर उसके भीतर रखा हुआ आवश्यक पत्र ले लिया। उसे देखकर उन्हें चक्रवर्तीके दीक्षा लेनेका निर्णय होगया
और इस बातसे वे बहुत ही विस्मित हुए ॥१०७। वे विचारने लगे कि अहो, चक्रवर्ती बड़ा ही पुण्यात्मा है जिसने इतने बड़े साम्राज्यके वैभवको छोड़कर पवित्र अंगवाली स्त्रीके समान दीक्षा धारण की है ।।१०८।। अहो! चक्रवर्तीके पुत्र भी बड़े पुण्यशाली और अचिन्त्य साहसकेधारक हैं जिन्होंने इतने बड़े राज्यको ठुकराकर पिताके साथ ही दीक्षा धारण की है ॥१०९।। फूले हुए कमलके समान मुखकी कान्तिकाधारक बालक पुण्डरीक राज्यके इन महान् भारको वहन करनेसे लिए नियुक्त किया गया है और मामी लक्ष्मीमती कार्य चलाना कठिन है' यह समझकर राज्यमें शान्ति रखनेके लिए शीघ्र ही मेरा सन्निधान चाहती हैं अर्थात् मुझे बुला रही हैं ॥११०-१११॥ इस प्रकार कार्य करनेमें चतुर बुद्धिमान वनजंघने पत्रके अर्थका निश्चय कर स्वयं निर्णय कर लिया और अपना निर्णय श्रीमतीको भी समझा दिया ॥११२।। पत्रके सिवाय उन विद्याधरोंने लक्ष्मीमतीका कहा हुआ मौखिक सन्देश भी सुनाया था जिससे वजजंघको पत्रके अर्थका ठीक-ठीक निर्णय हो गया था। तदनन्तर बुद्धिमान् वजजंघने पुण्डरीकिणी पुरी जानेका विचार किया ॥११३॥ पिता और भाईके दीक्षा लेने आदिके समाचार सुनकर श्रीमतीको बहुत दुःख हुआ था परन्तु वजजंघने उसे समझा दिया और उसके साथ भी गुण-दोषका
