आदिपुराणम् नलिनं कमलानं च तथान्यत् कमलं विदुः । तुव्यङ्गं तुटिकं चान्यदटटाङ्गमथाटटम् ॥२२४॥ भममाजमतो शेयमममाख्यमतः परम् । हाहाकं च तथा हाहा हुएश्चैवं प्रतीयताम् ।।२२५।। लताजं च लताद्धं च महत्पूर्व च तवयम् । शिरःप्रकम्पितं चान्यत्ततो हस्तप्रहेलितम् ।।२२६।। अचलात्मकमित्येवं प्रकारः कालपर्ययः । संख्येयो गणनातीतं विदुः कालमतः परम् ॥२२७॥ यथासंभवमेतेषु मनूनामायुरूपताम् । संख्याज्ञानमिदं विद्वान् सुधी पौराशिको मवेत् ॥२२८॥ प्रायः प्रतिश्रुतिः प्रोक्तः द्वितीयः सम्मतिर्मतः । तृतीयः क्षेमकृयाम्नः चतुर्थः क्षेमधुन्मनुः ॥२२९।। सीमकृत् पञ्चमो ज्ञेयः षष्ठः सीमदिव्यते । ततो विमलवाहाक्षुष्माष्टमो मतः ॥२३०॥ यशस्वाचवमस्तस्माभिचन्द्रोऽप्यनन्तरः । चन्द्रामोऽस्मात् परं ज्ञेयो मरुद्देवस्ततः परम् ॥२३॥ प्रसेनजित् परं तस्माचामिराजश्चतुर्दशः । वृषभो भरतेशश्च तीर्थचक्रभृतौ मनू ॥२३२॥
उपजातिः प्रतिश्रुति: प्रत्यशृणोत् प्रजानां चन्द्रार्कसंदर्शनभीतिमाजाम् । स सन्मतिस्तारकिताभ्रमार्गसंदर्शने भीतिमपाचकार ॥२३३॥
क्षेमंकरः ओमकृदार्यवर्ग क्षेमंधरः क्षेमतेः प्रजानाम् । सीमंकरः सीमकृदार्यनृणां सीमंधरः सीमतेस्तरूणाम् ॥२३॥
उपजातिः वाहोपदेशाद्विमकादिवाहः पुत्राननालोकनसंप्रदायात् । चक्षुष्मदाख्या मनुरप्रगोऽभूचशस्वदायस्तदमिष्टवेन ॥२३५॥
अटट, अममाङ्ग, अमम, हाहाङ्ग, हाहा, हूङ्ग, हूहू, लताङ्ग, लता, महालताङ्ग, महालता, शिरःप्रकम्पित, हस्तप्रहेलित और अचल ये सब उक्त संख्याके नाम हैं जो कि कालद्रव्यको पर्याय हैं। यह सब संख्येय हैं-संख्यातके भेद हैं इसके आगेका संख्यासे रहित है-असंख्यात है ।।२२२-२२७।। ऊपर मनुओं-कुलकरोंकी जो आयु कही है उसे इन भेदोंमें ही यथासंभव समझ लेना चाहिए । जो बुद्धिमान् पुरुष इस संख्या ज्ञानको जानता है वही पौराणिक-पुराणका जानकार विद्वान् हो सकता है ।।२२८।। ऊपर जिन कुलकरोंका वर्णन कर चुके हैं यथाक्रमसे उनके नाम इस प्रकार हैं-पहले प्रतिश्रुति, दूसरे सन्मति, तीसरे क्षेमंकर, चौथे क्षेमंधर, पाँचवें सीमंकर, छठे सीमंधर, सातवें विमलवाहन, आठवें चक्षुष्मान , नौवें यशस्वान्, दसवें अभिचन्द्र,ग्यारहवें चन्द्राभ, बारहवें मरुदेव, तेरहवें प्रसेनजित् और चौदहवें नाभिराज। इनके सिवाय भगवान् वृषभदेव तीर्थकर भी थे और मनु भी तथा भरत चक्रवर्ती भी थे और मनु भी ॥२२९-२३२ ।। अब संक्षेपमें उन कुलकरोंके कार्यका वर्णन करता हूँ-प्रतिश्रुतिने सूर्य चन्द्रमाके देखनेसे भयभीत हुए मनुष्योंके भयको दूर किया था, तारोंसे भरे हुए आकाशके देखनेसे लोगोंको जो भय हुआ था उसे सन्मतिने दूर किया था, क्षेमंकरने प्रजामें क्षेम-कल्याणका प्रचार किया था, क्षेमंधरने कल्याण धारण किया था, सीमंकरने आर्य पुरुषोंकी सीमा नियत की थी, सीमन्धरने कल्पवृक्षोंको सीमा निश्चित की थी, विमलवाहनने हाथी
