आदिपुराणम् मस्वोरसिलमस्यो कार्य वेधा महामरम् । उपाजेकर्तुमध्यूरू स्थिरे जके न्यवाद् ध्रुवम् ॥११॥ चन्द्रार्कसरिदम्मोधिमत्स्यकूर्मादिलक्षणम् । दधेऽधिचरणं भक्तुं चराचरमिवाश्रितम् ॥१६२॥ इति स्वभावमाधुर्यसौन्दर्यघटितं वपुः । मन्ये तार सुरेन्द्राखामपि जायेत दुष्करम् ॥१६॥ तस्य काले सुतोत्पत्तौ नामिनालमाश्यत । स तनिकर्तनोपायमादिशनामिरित्यभूत् ॥१६॥ तस्यैव काले जलदाः कालिकाकधूरस्विषः । प्रादुरासनभोमागे सान्द्राः सेन्द्रशासनाः ॥१६५॥ नमो नीरन्ध्रमारुन्धञ्जजम्भेऽम्मोमुचां चयः । कालादुद्भूतसामध्यॆरारन्धः सूक्ष्मपुद्गलैः ॥१६॥ वियुद्वन्तो महाध्वाना वर्षन्तो रेजिरे घनाः । सहेमकक्ष्या मदिनो नागा इव सहिताः ॥१६॥ घनाघनघनध्वानः प्रहता गिरिभित्तयः । प्रत्याक्रोशमिवातेमुः प्रष्टाः प्रतिशब्दकैः ॥१६॥ "ववावा ततान कुर्वन् कलापौधान कलापिनाम् । घनाघनालिमक्ताम्भःकणवाही समीरणः ॥१९॥ चातका मधुरं रेणुरभिनन्दा धनागमम् । अकस्मात्ताण्डवारम्भमातेने शिखिनां कुलम् ॥१०॥ अभिषेक्तुमिवारब्धा गिरीनम्मोमुचां चयाः । मुक्तधारं प्रवर्षन्तः प्रक्षरद्धा निर्मरान् ॥१७॥
घरके भीतर लगे हुए दो मजबूत खम्भे हों । उनके शरीरका ऊर्ध्व भाग वक्षःस्थलरूपी शिलासे युक्त होनेके कारण अत्यन्त वजनदार था मानो यह समझकर ही ब्रह्माने उसे निश्चलरूपसे धारण करनेके लिए उनकी ऊरओं (घुटनोंसे ऊपरका भाग) सहित जंघाओं (पिंडरियों) को बहुत ही मजबूत बनाया था। वे जिस चरणतलको धारण किये हुए थे वह चन्द्र, सूर्य, नदी, समुद्र, मच्छ, कच्छप आदि अनेक शुभलक्षणोंसे सहित था जिससे वह ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो यह चर-अचर रूप सभी संसार सेवा करनेके लिए उसके आश्रयमें
आ पड़ा हो। इस प्रकार स्वाभाविक मधुरता और सुन्दरतासे बना हुआ नाभिराजका 'जैसा शरीर था, मैं मानता हूँ कि वैसा शरीर देवोंके अधिपति इन्द्रको भी मिलना कठिन है ॥१५२-१६३।। इनके समयमें उत्पन्न होते वक्त बालककी नाभिमें नाल दिखायी देने लगा था और नाभिराजने उसके काटनेकी आज्ञा दी थी इसलिए इनका 'नाभि' यह सार्थक नाम पड़ गया था ॥१६४॥ उन्हींके समय आकाशमें कुछ सफेदी लिये हुए काले रंगके सघन मेघ प्रकट हुए थे। वे मेघ इन्द्रधनुषसे सहित थे॥१६५ ।। उस समय कालके प्रभावसे पुद्गल परमाणुओंमें मेघ बनानेकी सामर्थ्य उत्पन्न हो गयी थी, इसलिए सूक्ष्म पुद्गलों-द्वारा बने हुए मेघोंके समूह छिद्ररहित लगातार समस्त आकाशको घेर कर जहाँ-तहाँ फैल गये थे ॥१६६।। वे मेघ बिजलीसे युक्त थे, गम्भीर गर्जना कर रहे थे और पानी बरसा रहे थे जिससे ऐसे शोभायमान होते थे मानो सुवर्णकी मालाओंसे सहित, मद बरसानेवाले और गरजते हुए हस्ती ही हों॥१६७। उस समय मेघोंकी गम्भीर गर्जनासे टकरायी हुई पहाड़ोंकी दीवालोंसे जो प्रतिध्वनि निकल रही थी उससे ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो वे पर्वतकी दीवाले कुपित होकर प्रतिध्वनिके बहाने आक्रोश वचन (गालियाँ) ही कह रही हों ॥१६८। उस समय मेघमाला-द्वारा बरसाये हुए जलकणोंको धारण करनेवाला-ठण्डा वायु मयूरोंके पंखोंको फैलाता हुआ बह रहा था ॥१६९।। आकाशमें बादलोंका आगमन देखकर हर्षित हुए चातक पक्षी मनोहर शब्द बोलने लगे और मोरोंके समूह अकस्मात् ताण्डव नृत्य करने लगे ॥१७०।। उस समय धाराप्रवाह बरसते हुए मेघोंके समूह ऐसे मालूम होते थे मानो जिनसे धातुओंके

These clouds were filled with lightning, thundered loudly, and rained heavily. They resembled elephants adorned with golden garlands, intoxicated, and roaring.

The echoes from the mountain walls, struck by the thunderous roar of the clouds, seemed like the mountains themselves were expressing their anger through these echoes.

The cool wind, carrying the raindrops showered by the clouds, blew, spreading its wings like a peacock.

Seeing the arrival of the clouds in the sky, the happy Chatak birds sang sweetly, and the group of peacocks spontaneously began to dance.

The clouds, pouring down in torrents, seemed to be made of metals, as they showered the earth with their rain.
