आदिपुराणम् तदा स्थितिर्मनुष्याणां त्रिपल्योपमसम्मिता । षट्सहस्राणि चापानामुत्सेधो वपुषः स्मृतः ॥२५॥ वज्रास्थिबन्धनाः सौम्याः सुन्दराकारचारवः । निष्टतकनकच्छाया दीप्यन्ते ते नरोत्तमाः ॥२६॥ मुकुटं कुण्डलं हारो मेखला कटकाङ्गदौ । केयूरं ब्रह्मसूत्रं च तेषां शश्वद् विभूषणम् ॥२७॥ *ते स्वपुण्योदयोद्भूतरूपलावण्यसंपदः । रंरम्यन्ते चिरं स्त्रीमिः सुरा इव सुरालये ॥२८॥ *महासत्वा महाधर्या महोरस्का महौजसः । महानुभावास्ते सर्वे महीयन्ते महोदयाः ॥२९॥ तेषामाहारसंप्रीतिर्जायते दिवसैनि ः । कुवलीफलमानं च दिव्यान्नं विष्वणन्ति ते ॥३०॥ 'निर्व्यायामा मिरातका निर्णीहारा 'निराधयः । निस्स्वेदास्ते' निराबाधा जीवन्ति ''पुरुषायुषाः॥३१॥ स्त्रियोऽपि तावदायुष्कास्तावदुत्सेधवृत्तयः । कल्पद्रुमेषु संसक्ताः कल्पवल्ल्य इवोज्ज्वलाः ॥३२॥ पुरुषेष्वनुरक्तास्तास्ते च तास्वनुरागिणः । यावजीवमसंक्लिष्टा भुञ्जते भोगसंपदः ॥३३॥ स्वभावसुन्दरं रूपं स्वभावमधुरं वचः । स्वभावचतुरा चेष्टा तेषां स्वर्गजुषामिव ॥३॥ रुच्याहारगृहातोय-माल्यभूषाम्बरादिकम् । मोगसाधनमेतेषां सर्व कल्पतरूद्भवम् ।।३५।।
प्रारम्भ अर्थात् अवसर्पिणीके पहले कालमें थी ।।२४।। उस समय मनुष्योंकी आयु तीन पल्यकी होती थी और शरीरकी ऊँचाई छह हजार धनुषकी थी ॥२५।। उस समय यहाँ जो मनुष्य थे उनके शरीरके अस्थिबन्धन वनके समान सुदृढ़ थे, वे अत्यन्त सौम्य और सुन्दर आकारके धारक थे । उनका शरीर तपाये हुए सुवर्णके समान देदीप्यमान था ॥२६।। मुकुट, कुण्डल, हार, करधनी, कड़ा, बाजूबन्द और यज्ञोपवीत इन आभूषणोंको वे सर्वदा धारण किये रहते थे ॥२७॥ वहाँके मनुष्योंको पुण्यके उदयसे अनुपम रूप सौन्दर्य तथा अन्य सम्पदाओंकी प्राप्ति होती रहती है इसलिए वे स्वर्ग में देवोंके समान अपनी-अपनी स्त्रियोंके साथ चिरकाल तक क्रीड़ा करते रहते हैं ।।२८।। वे पुरुष सबके सब बड़े बलवान् , बड़े धीर-वीर, बड़े तेजस्वी, बड़े प्रतापी, बड़े सामर्थ्यवान और बड़े पुण्यशाली होते हैं । उनके वक्षःस्थल बहुत ही विस्तृत होते हैं तथा वे सब पूज्य समझे जाते हैं ।।२९।। उन्हें तीन दिन बाद भोजनकी इच्छा होती है सो कल्पवृक्षोंसे प्राप्त हुए बदरीफल बराबर उत्तम भोजन ग्रहण करते हैं ॥३०॥ उन्हें न तो कोई परिश्रम करना पड़ता है, न कोई रोग होता है, न मलमूत्रादिकी बाधा होती है, न मानसिक पीड़ा होती है, न पसीना ही आता है
और न अकालमें उनकी मृत्यु ही होती है । वे बिना किसी बाधाके सुखपूर्वक जीवन बिताते हैं ॥३१॥ वहाँकी स्त्रियाँ भी उतनी ही आयुकी धारक होती हैं, उनका शरीर भी उतना ही ऊँचा होता है और वे अपने पुरुषोंके साथ ऐसी शोभायमान होती हैं जैसी कल्पवनोंपर लगी हुई कल्पलताएँ ।।३२।। वे स्त्रियाँ अपने पुरुषोंमें अनुरक्त रहती हैं और पुरुष अपनी स्त्रियोंमें अनुरक्त रहते हैं। वे दोनों ही अपने जीवन पर्यन्त बिना किसी क्लेशके भोग-सम्पदाओंका उपभोग करते रहते हैं ॥३३॥ देवोंके समान उनका रूप स्वभावसे सुन्दर होता है, उनके वचन स्वभावसे मीठे होते हैं और उनकी चेष्टाएँ भी स्वभावसे चतुर होती हैं ॥३४॥ इच्छानुसार मनोहर आहार, घर, बाजे, माला, आभूषण और वस्त्र आदिक समस्त भोगोपभोगकी सामग्री

They were as radiant as the wish-fulfilling vines growing on the wish-fulfilling trees, and they were devoted to their husbands. ||32|| The women were devoted to their husbands, and the husbands were devoted to their wives. They enjoyed all the pleasures of life together, without any conflict, for their entire lives. ||33|| Their beauty was natural, their speech was naturally sweet, and their actions were naturally graceful, like those of the celestial beings. ||34|| All their material comforts, such as delicious food, beautiful homes, musical instruments, garlands, ornaments, and clothes, were obtained from the wish-fulfilling trees. ||35||
