आदिपुराणम् स्वत्पदाराधनात् पुण्यं यदस्माभिरुपार्जितम् । तवैव तेन भूयामः परार्था संपदूजिता ॥४०॥ त्वत्प्रसादादियं देव सफला प्रार्थनाऽस्तु नः । साधं राजर्षिणानेन श्रोतननुगृहाण नः ॥८॥ इत्युचैः स्तोत्रसंपाठस्तत्क्षणं प्रविम्मित: । पुण्यो मुनिसमाजेऽस्मिन् महान् कलकलोऽभवत् ॥४२॥ इत्थं स्तुवनिरोधेन मुनि वृन्दारकैस्तदा । प्रसादितो गणेन्द्रोऽभूद् मक्रियाह्या हि योगिनः ॥८३॥ सदा प्रशान्तगम्भीरं स्तुत्वा मुनिमिरर्थितः । मनो व्यापारयामास गौतमस्तदनुग्रहे ॥४४॥ ततः प्रशान्तसंजल्पे प्रब्यक्तकरकुड्मले । शुश्रूषावहिते साधुसमाजे निभृतं स्थिते ॥५॥ वाङ्मलानामशेषाणामपायादतिनिर्मलाम् । वाग्देवी दशनज्योत्स्नाम्याजेन स्फुटयत्रिव ॥८६॥ सुभाषितमहारत्नप्रसारमिव दर्शयन् । यथाकामं जिघृक्षूणां भकिमूल्येन योगिनाम् ॥८॥ लसदशनदीप्तांशुप्रसूनैराकिरन सदः । सरस्वतीप्रवेशाय पूर्वरङ्गमिवाचरन् ॥८॥ मनःप्रसादमभितो विमजद्भिरिवायतैः । प्रसवीक्षितैः कृत्स्नां समां प्रक्षालयन्निव ॥८९।। तपोऽनुभावसंजातमध्यासीनोऽपि विष्टरम् । जगतामुपरीवोच्चमहिम्ना घटितस्थितिः ॥१०॥
आराधना करनेसे हमारे जो कुछ पुण्यका संचय हुआ है उससे हमें भी आपकी इस उत्कृष्ट महासम्पत्तिकी प्राप्ति हो ।।८।। हे देव, आपके प्रसादसे हमारी यह प्रार्थना सफल हो । आज राजर्षि श्रेणिकके साथ-साथ हम सब श्रोताओंपर कृपा कीजिए ।।८।।
इस प्रकार मुनियोंने जब उच्च स्वरसे स्तोत्रोंसे जो गणधर गौतम स्वामीकी स्तुति की थी उससे उस समय मुनिसमाजमें पुण्यवर्द्धक बड़ा भारी कोलाहल होने लगा था ॥२॥ इस प्रकार समुदाय रूपसे बड़े-बड़े मुनियोंने जब गणधर देवकी स्तुति की तब वे प्रसन्न हुए। सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि योगीजन भक्तिके द्वारा वशीभूत होते ही हैं ।।८।। इस प्रकार मुनियोंने जब बड़ी शान्ति और गम्भीरताके साथ स्तुति कर गणधर महाराजसे प्रार्थना की तब उन्होंने उनके अनुग्रह में अपना चित्त लगाया-उस ओर ध्यान दिया ।।८४|| इसके अनन्तर जब स्तुतिसे उत्पन्न होनेवाला कोलाहल शान्त हो गया और सब लोग हाथ जोड़कर पुराण सुननेकी इच्छासे सावधान हो चुपचाप बैठ गये तब वे भगवान् गौतम स्वामी श्रोताओंको संबोधते हुए गम्भीर मनोहर और उत्कृष्ट अर्थसे भरी हुई वाणी-द्वारा कहने लगे । उस समय जो दाँतोंकी उज्ज्वल किरणे निकल रही थीं उनसे ऐसा मालूम होता था मानों वे शब्दसम्बन्धी समस्त दोषोंके अभावसे अत्यन्त निर्मल हुई सरस्वती देवीको ही साक्षात् प्रकट कर रहे हों। उस समय वे गणधर स्वामी ऐसे शोभायमान हो रहे थे जैसे भक्तिरूपी मूल्यके द्वारा अपनी इच्छानुसार खरीदनेके अभिलाषी मुनिजनोंको सुभाषित रूपी महारत्नोंका समूह ही दिखला रहे हों । उस समय वे अपने दाँतोंके किरणरूपी फूलोंको सारी सभामें बिखेर रहे थे जिससे ऐसा मालूम होता था मानो सरस्वती देवीके प्रवेशके लिए रङ्गभूमिको ही सजा रहे हों। मनकी प्रसन्नताको विभक्त करनेके लिए ही मानो सब ओर फैली हुई अपनी स्वच्छ और प्रसन्न दृष्टिके द्वारा वे गौतम स्वामी समस्त सभाका प्रक्षालन करते हुए-से मालूम होते थे । यद्यपि वे ऋषिराज तपश्चरणके माहात्म्यसे प्राप्त हुए आसनपर बैठे हुए थे तथापि अपने उत्कृष्ट माहात्म्यसे ऐसे मालूम होते थे मानो समस्त लोकके ऊपर ही बैठे हों । उस समय वे न तो सरस्वतीको ही अधिक कष्ट देना चाहते थे और न इन्द्रियोंको ही अधिक चलायमान करना चाहते थे।

Please grace us today along with the king-sage Shrenik and all the listeners. ||8|| Thus, when the sages chanted the hymns in a loud voice, a great and auspicious commotion arose in the assembly of sages. ||42|| Thus, when the great sages praised the Lord of the assembly, he was pleased. For, yogis are indeed subdued by devotion. ||83|| Having praised the Lord of the assembly with great peace and solemnity, Gautama focused his mind on his grace. ||44|| Then, when the commotion arising from the praise had subsided, and the assembly of virtuous men, with folded hands, were attentively listening, the Lord Gautama, addressing the listeners, spoke in a voice that was both solemn, pleasing, and full of profound meaning. At that time, the radiant rays emanating from his teeth seemed to manifest the goddess Saraswati, who is completely free from all defects related to speech. At that time, the Lord of the assembly appeared as if he were showing the assembly of sages, who desired to acquire the precious jewels of good sayings, a collection of those jewels, purchased with the price of devotion. At that time, he was scattering the flowers of the rays of his teeth throughout the assembly, as if he were preparing the stage for the entry of Saraswati. As if to distribute the joy of the mind, the Lord Gautama, with his pure and joyful gaze, which extended everywhere, seemed to be cleansing the entire assembly. Although he was seated on the seat obtained by the power of his austerities, he appeared as if he were seated above all the worlds, by virtue of his great glory. At that time, he did not want to cause too much trouble to Saraswati, nor did he want to make his senses too active.
