आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक उचित है और एक उचित नहीं है । तो हे भगवंत ! ऐसे कौन-कितने हैं कि जिन्हें सामान्य तोर पर प्रतिषेध किया है? और प्रतिषेध नहीं किया है । हे गौतम ! एक ऐसे है कि जो खिलाफ हैं और एक खिलाफ नहीं हैं । जो खिलाफ है उसका प्रतिषेध किया जाता है । और जो खिलाफ नहीं है उसका प्रतिषेध नहीं किया जाता । हे भगवंत ! कौन खिलाफ है और कौन नहीं?
हे गौतम ! जो जिस देश में दुगंछा करने के लायक हो, जिन-जिन देश में दुगंछित हो, जिस देश में प्रतिषेध किया हो उस देश में खिलाफ है । जो किसी देश में दुगुंछनीय नहीं है उस देश में प्रतिषेध्य नहीं है उस देश में खिलाफ नहीं है । हे गौतम ! वहाँ, जिस-जिस देश में खिलाफ माना जाता हो तो उसे प्रव्रज्या मत देना । जो कोई जिस देश में खिलाफ न माने जाते हो तो उन्हें प्रव्रज्या देनी चाहिए।
हे भगवंत ! किस देश में कौन खिलाफ और कौन खिलाफ न माना जाए ? हे गौतम ! यदि कोई पुरुष या स्त्री राग से या द्वेष से, पश्चात्ताप से, क्रोध से, लालच से, श्रमण को, श्रावक को, माता-पिता को, भाई को, बहन को, भाणेज को, पुत्र को, पौत्र को, पुत्री को, भतीजे को, पुत्रवधू को, जमाईराज को, बीबी को, भागीदार को, गोत्रीय को, सजाति को, विजाति को, स्वजनवाले को, ऋद्धिरहित को, स्वदेशी को, परदेशी को, आर्य को, म्लेच्छ को मार डाले या मरवा डाले, उपद्रव करे या उपद्रव करवाए, वो प्रव्रज्या के लिए अनुचित हैं । वो पापी है, निन्दित है । गर्हणीय है । दुगुंछा करने के लायक हैं । वो दीक्षा के लिए प्रतिषेधित है । वो आपत्ति है । विघ्न है। अपयश करवानेवाला है । अपकीर्ति हृदयानेवाला है, उन्मार्ग पाया हुआ है, अनाचारी है, राज्य में भी जो दुष्ट हो, ऐसे ही दूसरे किसी व्यसन से पराभवित, अतिसंकिलिष्ट नतीजेवाला हो, और अति क्षुधालु हो, देवादार हो, जाति, कुल, शील और स्वभाव जिसके अनजान हो, कईं व्याधि वेदना से व्याप्त शरीरवाले और रस में लोलुपी हो, कईं निद्रा करनेवाले हो, कथा करनेवाले - हँसी क्रीडा कंदर्प नाहवाद-स्वामीत्व का भाव हुकुम करनेवाला और काफी कतहली स्वभाववाला हो, काफी निम्न कक्षा या प्रेष्य जात का हो, मिथ्यादष्टि या शासन के खिलाफ कल में पैदा हुआ हो, वैसे किसी को यदि कोई आचार्य, गच्छनायक, गीतार्थ या अगीतार्थ, आचार्य के गुणयुक्त या गच्छ के नायक के गुणयुक्त हो, भावि के आचार्य या भावि के गच्छ-नायक होनेवाले हो उस (शिष्य) लालच से गारव से दो सौ जोजन भीतर प्रव्रज्या दे तो वो हे गौतम ! प्रवचन की मर्यादा का उल्लंघन करनेवाला, प्रवचन का विच्छेद करनेवाला, तीर्थ का विच्छेद करनेवाला, संघ का विच्छेद करनेवाला होता है।
और फिर वो व्यसन से पराभवित समान है, परलोक के नुकसान को न देखनेवाला, अनाचार प्रवर्तक, अकार्य करनेवाला है । वो पापी, अति पापी, महा पापी में भी उच्च है । हे गौतम ! वाकई उसे अभिगृहीत, चंड़, रौद्र, क्रूर, मिथ्यादृष्टि समझना।
सूत्र-८२५
हे भगवंत ! किस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है ? हे गौतम ! आचार में मोक्षमार्ग है लेकिन अनाचार में मोक्षमार्ग नहीं है । किस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है । हे भगवंत ! कौन-से आचार हैं और कौन-से अनाचार हैं ? हे गौतम ! प्रभु की आज्ञा के मुताबिक व्यवहार करना वो आचार, उस के प्रतिपक्षभूत आज्ञा के अनुसार व्यवहार न करना उसे अनाचार कहते हैं । उसमें जो आज्ञा के प्रतिपक्षभूत हो वो एकान्त में सर्व तरह से सर्वथा वर्जन के लायक है । और फिर जो आज्ञा के प्रतिपक्षभूत नहीं है वो एकान्त में सर्व तरह से सर्वथा आचरण के योग्य है । और हे गौतम ! यदि कोई ऐसा मिले कि इस श्रमणपन की विराधना करेंगे तो उसका सर्वथा त्याग करना ।
सूत्र- ८२६
हे भगवंत ! उसकी परीक्षा किस तरह करे ? हे गौतम ! जो कोई पुरुष या स्त्री श्रमणपन अंगीकार करने की अभिलाषावाले (इस दीक्षा के कष्ट से) कंपन या ध्रुजने लगे, बैठने लगे, वमन करे, खुद के या दूसरों के समुदाय की आशातना करे, अवर्णवाद बोले, सम्बन्ध करे, उसकी ओर चलने लगे या अवलोकन करे, उनके सामने देखा

He is a sinner, condemned, blameworthy, worthy of being condemned. He is prohibited from initiation. He is an obstacle, a hindrance, a bringer of disgrace, a bringer of ill-repute, he has found the wrong path, he is immoral, even in the state he is wicked, similarly defeated by some other vice, he is very complex, very hungry, he is a thief, his caste, family, character and nature are unknown, he has a body afflicted with many diseases and pains, and he is greedy for taste, he is a great sleeper, he is a storyteller, he is a laughter, a play, a lust, a non-believer, a master, a commander, and he is very arrogant, he is of a very low class or a low caste, he is born in a womb against the truth or against the rule, if any Acharya, Gachchhanayak, Geetarth or Ageetarth, who is endowed with the qualities of an Acharya or who is endowed with the qualities of a Gachchhanayak, who is going to be an Acharya or who is going to be a Gachchhanayak, gives pravrajya to that (disciple) out of greed or pride even within two hundred yojanas, then O Gautam! He is a violator of the rules of preaching, a breaker of preaching, a breaker of pilgrimage, a breaker of the Sangha.

And then he is equal to the one who is defeated by vice, he does not see the loss of the afterlife, he is a promoter of immorality, he is a doer of evil. He is a sinner, a great sinner, a great sinner among the great sinners. O Gautam! Indeed, consider him to be a hypocrite, a demon, a fierce, a cruel, a false-sighted.

**Sutra-825**

O Bhagvant! Why is it said so? O Gautam! There is the path of liberation in conduct, but there is no path of liberation in misconduct. Why is it said so? O Bhagvant! What are the conducts and what are the misconducts? O Gautam! To behave according to the command of the Lord is conduct, to behave against his command is called misconduct. In it, whatever is against the command is to be completely avoided in solitude. And then, whatever is not against the command is completely worthy of being practiced in solitude. And O Gautam! If anyone is found who will contradict this Shramanapan, then completely abandon him.

**Sutra-826**

O Bhagvant! How to test him? O Gautam! Whoever is a man or woman who desires to embrace Shramanapan (from the hardship of this initiation) trembles or shakes, sits down, vomits, desires his own or others' community, speaks of non-belief, makes a relationship, starts walking towards him or observes him, see in front of them
