आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक और रौद्र एवं आर्त्तध्यान से मुक्त हो, जो सर्व आवश्यक क्रिया करने में उद्यमी एवं वशेष प्रकार से लब्धियुक्त हो ।
जो अकस्मात् प्रसंग में भी, किसी की प्रेरणा हो या कोई निमंत्रण करे तो भी अकार्य आचरण न करे, ज्यादा निद्रा या ज्यादा भोजन न करते हो, सर्व आवश्यक, स्वाध्याय, ध्यान, प्रतिमा, अभिग्रह, घोर परीषह-उपसर्ग को जीतनेवाले हो, उत्तम पात्र के संग्रही, अपाज्ञ को परठने की विधि के ज्ञाता, अखंडीत देहयुक्त, परमत एवं स्वमत के ज्ञाता, क्रोधादि कषाय, अहंकार, ममत्व, क्रीडा, कंदर्प आदि से सर्वथा मुक्त, धर्मकथा कहनेवाले, विषयाभिलास आदि में वैराग्य उत्पन्न करनेवाले, भव्यात्मा को प्रतिबोध करनेवाले एवं-गच्छ के भार को स्थापन करने के योग्य, दो गण के स्वामी हैं।
गण को धारण करनेवाले, तीर्थ स्वरूप, तीर्थ करनेवाले, अर्हन्त, केवली, जिन, तीर्थ की प्रभावना करनेवाले, वंदनीय, पूजनीय, नमसरणीय (नमस्कार करने के लायक) है । दर्शनीय है । परम पवित्र, परम कल्याण स्वरूप हैं, वो परम मंगल रूप है, वो सिद्धि (की कारण) है, मुक्ति है, मोक्ष है । शिव है । रक्षण करनेवाले है, सिद्ध है, मुक्त है, पार पाए हुए है, देव है, देव के भी देव है, हे गौतम ! इस तरह के गुणवाले हो, उसके लिए गण की स्थापना करना, करवाना और निक्षेप करण की अनुमोदना करना, अन्यथा हे गौतम ! आज्ञा का भंग होता है। सूत्र- ८२२
हे भगवंत ! कितने अरसे तक यह आज्ञा प्रवेदन की है ? हे गौतम ! जब तक महायशवाले, महासत्त्ववाले, महागुणभाग, श्री प्रभुनाम के अणगार होंगे तब तक आज्ञा का प्रवर्तन होगा । हे भगवन् ! कितने समय के बाद श्री प्रभ नाम के अणगार होंगे? हे गौतम ! दुरन्त प्रान्त-तुच्छ लक्षणवाला न देखने के लायक रौद्र, क्रोधी, प्रचंड, कठिन, उग्रभारी, दंड करनेवाले, मर्यादा रहित, निष्करुण, निर्दय, कर, महाकर, पाप मतिवाला, अनार्य मिथ्यादष्टि, ऐसा कल्कि राजा होगा । वो राजा भिक्षाभ्रमण करने की इच्छावाले 'श्री श्रमण संघ' को कदर्थना पहुँचाएंगे, परेशान करेंगे तब हे गौतम ! जो कोई वहाँ शीलयुक्त महानुभाव अचलित सत्त्ववाले तपस्वी अणगार होंगे। उनका, वज्र जिनके हाथमें है वैसे, ऐरावत हाथी पर बैठकर गमन करनेवाले सौधर्म इन्द्र महाराजा सान्निध्य करेंगे।
उसी तरह हे गौतम ! देवेन्द्र से वंदित प्रत्यक्ष देखे हुए प्रमाणवाला श्री श्रमणसंघ प्राण अर्पण करने के लिए तैयार होते हैं । लेकिन पाखंड़ धर्म के लिए तैयार नहीं होते । जितने में हे गौतम ! जिनको एक दूसरे का सहारा नहीं है, अहिंसा लक्षणवाले, क्षमादि दश तरह का जो एक ही धर्म है, अकेले देवाधिदेव अरिहंत भगवंत ही, एक जिनालय, एक वंदनीय, पूजनीय, सत्कार करने के लायक, सन्मान करने के लायक, महायश-महासत्त्ववाले, महानुभाग जिन्हें है ऐसे, दृढ़ शील, व्रत, नियम को धारण करनेवाले तपोधन साधु थे । वो साधु चन्द्र समान सौम्यशीतल लेश्यावाले, सूरज की तरह चमकती तप की तेज राशि समान, पृथ्वी की तरह परिषह-उपसर्ग सहने के लिए समर्थ, मेरु पर्वत की तरह अड़ोल अहिंसा आदि लक्षणवाले क्षमादि दश तरह के धर्म के लिए रहे, मुनिवर अच्छे श्रमण के समुदाय से परीवरित थे, बादल रहित साफ आकाश हो, उसमें शरद पूर्णिमा के निर्मल चन्द्र की तरह कई ग्रह-नक्षत्र से परीवरित हो वैसा ग्रहपति चन्द्र जैसे काफी शोभा पाता है वैसे यह श्रीप्रभ नाम के अणगार गण समुदाय के बीच अधिक शोभा पाते थे । हे गौतम !श्री प्रभ अणगार ने इतने समय तक इस आज्ञा का प्रवेदन किया सूत्र-८२३-८२४
हे भगवंत ! उसके बाद के काल में क्या हआ? हे गौतम ! उसके बाद के काल समय में जो कोई आत्मा छ काय जीव के समारम्भ का त्याग करनेवाला हो, वो धन्य, पूज्य, वंदनीय, नमस्करणीय, सुंदर जीवन जीनेवाले माने जाते हैं । हे भगवंत ! सामान्य पृच्छा में इस प्रकार यावत् क्या कहना ? हे गौतम ! अपेक्षा से कैसी आत्मा उचित है । और (प्रव्रज्या के लिए) कोई उचित नहीं है । हे भगवंत ! किस कारण से ऐसा कहते हैं ? हे गौतम ! सामान्य से जिनको प्रतिषेध किया हो और जिन्हें प्रतिषेध न किया हो, इस कारण से ऐसा कहा जाता है कि एक
