आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक कट गए हो, कान, नाक, होठ छेदन हुए हो, कोढ़ रोग के व्याधि से सड़ गई हो । वैसी स्त्री को भी ब्रह्मचारी पुरुष काफी दूर से त्याग करे । बुढ़ी भार्या या जिसके पाँच अंग में से शृंगार टपक रहा हो वैसी यौवना, बड़ी उम्र की कँवारी कन्या, परदेश गए हुए पतिवाली, बालविधवा और अंतःपुर की स्त्री स्वमत्त-परमत्त के पाखंड़ धर्म को कहनेवाली दीक्षित साध्वी, वेश्या या नपुंसक ऐसे विजातीय मानव हो, उतना ही नहीं लेकिन तिर्यंच, कुत्ती, भेंस, गाय, गधी, खचरी, बोकड़ी, घेटी, पत्थर की बनी स्त्री की मूरत हो, व्यभिचारी स्त्री, जन्म से बीमार स्त्री । इस तरह से परिचित हो या अनजान स्त्री हो, चाहे जैसी भी हो और रात को आती जाती है, दिन में भी एकान्त जगह में रहती है वैसे निवास स्थान, उपाश्रय, वसति को सर्व उपाय से अत्यंत रूप से अति दूर से ब्रह्मचारी पुरुष त्याग करे सूत्र - ३८५
हे गौतम ! उनके साथ मार्ग में सहवास-संलाप-बातचीत न करना, उसके सिवा बाकी स्त्रीयों के साथ अर्धक्षण भी वार्तालाप न करना । साथ मत चलना । सूत्र-३८६
हे भगवंत ! क्या स्त्री की ओर सर्वथा नजर ही न करना? हे गौतम ! ना, स्त्री की ओर नजर नहीं करनी या नहीं देखना, हे भगवंत ! पहचानवाली हो, वस्त्रालंकार से विभूषित हो वैसी स्त्री को न देखना या वस्त्रालंकार रहित हो उसे न देखना ? हे गौतम ! दोनों तरह की स्त्री को मत देखना । हे भगवंत ! क्या स्त्रीयों के साथ आलाप-संलाप भी न करे ? हे गौतम ! नहीं, स्त्री के साथ वार्तालाप भी मत करना । हे भगवंत ! स्त्री के साथ अर्धक्षण भी संवास न करना ? हे गौतम ! स्त्री के साथ क्षणार्ध भी संवास मत करो । हे भगवंत ! क्या रास्ते में स्त्री के साथ चल सकते हैं ? - हे गौतम ! एक ब्रह्मचारी पुरुष अकेली स्त्री के साथ मार्ग में नहीं चल सकता । सूत्र-३८७
हे भगवंत ! आप ऐसा क्यों कहते हैं कि-स्त्री के मर्म अंग-उपांग की ओर नजर न करना, उसके साथ बात न करना, उसके साथ वास न करना, उसके साथ मार्ग में अकेले न चलना? हे गौतम ! सभी स्त्री सर्व तरह से अति उत्कट मद और विषयाभिलाप के राग से उत्तेजित होती है । स्वभाव से उस का कामाग्नि हमेशा सुलगता रहता है। विषय की ओर उसका चंचल चित्त दौड़ता रहता है । उस के हृदय में हमेशा कामाग्नि दर्द देता हे, सर्व दिशा विदिशामें वो विषय की प्रार्थना करता है। इसलिए सर्व तरह से पुरुष का संकल्प और अभिलाष करनेवाली होती है
उस कारण से जहाँ सुन्दर कंठ से कोई संगीत गाए तो वो शायद मनोहर रूपवाला या बदसूरत हो, तरोताजा जवानीवाला या बीती हुई जवानीवाला हो । पहले देखा हुआ हो या अनदेखा हो । ऋद्धिवाला या रहित हो, नई समृद्धि पाई हो या न पाई हो, कामभोग से ऊब गया हो या विषय पाने की अभिलाषा वाला हो, बुढ़े देहवाला या मजबूत शरीरवाला हो, महासत्त्वशाली हो या हीन सत्त्ववाला हो, महापराक्रमी हो या कायर हो, श्रमण हो या गृहस्थ हो, ब्राह्मन हो या निन्दित, अधम-नीच जातिवाला हो वहाँ अपनी श्रोत्रेन्द्रिय के उपयोग से, चक्षु-इन्द्रिय के उपयोग से, रसनेन्द्रिय के उपयोग से, घ्राणेन्द्रिय के उपयोग से, स्पर्शेन्द्रिय के उपयोग से तुरन्त ही विषय प्राप्ति के लिए, तर्क, वितर्क, विचार और एकाग्र चित्तवाली बनेगी । एकाग्र चित्तवाली होकर उसका चित्त शोभायमान होगा।
और फिर चित्त में मुझे यह मिलेगा या नहीं? ऐसी द्विधा में रहेंगे। उसके बाद शरीर में पसीना छूटेगा । उसके बाद आलोक-परलोक में ऐसी अशुभ सोच से नुकसान होगा । उसके विपाक मुझे कम-ज्यादा प्रमाण में भुगतने पड़ेंगे वो बात उस वक्त उसके दिमाग से नीकल जाए तब लज्जा, भय, अपयश, अपकीर्ति, मर्यादा का त्याग करके ऊंचे स्थान से नीचे स्थान में बैठ जाते हैं। जितने में ऊंचे स्थान से नीचे स्थान पर परिणाम की अपेक्षा से हलके परिणाम वाली उस स्त्री की आत्मा होती है । उतने में असंख्यात समय और आवलिका बीत जाते हैं।

O Venerable One! Why do you say that one should not look at a woman's sensitive parts, not talk to her, not stay with her, and not walk with her alone? O Gautama! All women are highly excited by intense passion and desire for sensual pleasures. Their sexual desire is always burning. Their fickle mind is constantly running towards sensual objects. Their heart is always pained by the fire of desire, and they constantly pray for sensual pleasures in all directions. Therefore, they are always eager to fulfill the resolve and desire of a man.

Therefore, whether the one who sings with a melodious voice is handsome or ugly, young or old, seen before or unseen, endowed with supernatural powers or not, has recently gained prosperity or not, is satiated with sensual pleasures or desirous of them, has an old body or a strong body, is of great virtue or of low virtue, is of great valor or a coward, is an ascetic or a householder, is a brahmin or an outcast, of low or high caste - by using the faculties of hearing, sight, taste, smell, and touch, she will immediately become focused on acquiring the object of desire. Becoming focused, her mind will shine.

And then she will be in doubt whether she will get it or not. After that, perspiration will break out on her body. After that, there will be harm in this world and the next due to such inauspicious thoughts. The karmic results of that, more or less, will have to be experienced by her. When that thought goes out of her mind, she abandons shame, fear, infamy, disgrace, and propriety, and sits down from a higher place to a lower place. The more she expects a lighter result from that woman, the more countless time periods and aeons pass.

In those countless time periods and aeons, the state of karma from the first time, the second time, the third time, and so on, up to countless, infinite time periods.
