वो दुःख कैसे होगा? चार गति और ८४ लाख योनि स्वरूप कईं भव और गर्भावास सहना पड़ेगा, जिसमें रात-दिन के प्रत्येक समय सतत घोर, प्रचंड महा भयानक दुःख सहना पड़ेगा - हाहा-अरे रे ! - मर गया रे ऐसे आक्रन्द करना पड़ेगा। सूत्र-३६७
नारक और तिर्यंच गति में कोई रक्षा करनेवाला या शरणभूत नहीं होता । बेचारे अकेले-अपने शरीर को किसी सहाय करनेवाला न मिले, वहाँ कटू और कठिन विरस पाप के फल भुगतना पड़े। सूत्र-३६८
नारकी तलवार की धार समान पत्रवाले पेड़ के वन में छाँव की ईच्छा से जाए तो पवन से पत्ते शरीर पर भी पड़े यानि शरीर के टुकड़े हो । लहू, परु, चरबी केशवाले दुर्गंधयुक्त प्रवाहवाली वैतरणी नदी में डूबना, यंत्र में पीलना, करवत से कटना । कंटकयुक्त शाल्मली पेड़ के साथ आलिंगन, कुंभी में पकाना, कौए आदि पंछी की चोंच की मार सहना, शेर आदि जानवर के चबाने के दुःख और वैसे कईं दुःख नरकगति में पराधीन होकर भुगतना पड़े। सूत्र-३६९-३७०

कुंथुआ के पाँव के स्पर्श से उत्पन्न होनेवाली खुजली का दुःख तू यहाँ सहने के लिए समर्थ नहीं बनता तो फिर ऊपर कहे गए नरक तिर्यंचगति के अति भयानक महादुःख आएंगे तब उसका निस्तार-पार कैसे पाएंगे? सूत्र- ३७२-३७५
नारकी और तिर्यंच के दुःख और कुंथुआ के पाँव के स्पर्श का दुःख वो दोनों दुःख का अंतर कितना है ? तो कहते हैं मेरु पर्वत के परमाणु को अनन्त गुने किए जाए तो एक परमाणु जितना भी कुंथु के पाँव के स्पर्श का दुःख नहीं है । यह जीव भव के भीतर लम्बे अरसे से सुख की आकांक्षा कर रहे हैं । उसमें भी उसे दुःख की प्राप्ति होती है । और फिर भूतकाल के दुःख का स्मरण करने से वो अति दुःखी हो जाता है । इस प्रकार कईं दुःख के संकट में रहे लाख आपदा से भरा ऐसे संसार में जीव बसा है । उसमें अचानक मध्यबिन्दु प्राप्त हो जाए तो मिला हआ सुख कोई न जाने दे, लेकिन...जो आत्मा पथ्य और अपथ्य, कार्य और अकार्य, हित और अहित सेव्यअसेव्य और आचरणीय - अनाचरणीय के फर्क का विवेक नहीं करता (धर्म-अधर्म को नहीं जानता) वो बेचारे आत्मा की भावि में कैसी स्थिति हो ? सूत्र-३७६
इसलिए यह सर्व हकीकत सूनकर दुःख का अन्त करनेवाले को स्त्री, परिग्रह और आरम्भ का त्याग करके संयम और तप की आसेवना करनी चाहिए। सूत्र - ३७७-३८४
