आगम सूत्र ३९, छेदसूत्र-५, 'महानिशीथ'
अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक बावजूद भी सर्व तरह से अपना शल्य छिपाते हैं । लेकिन वो यह नहीं जानते कि यह शल्य उसने किससे छिपाया? क्योंकि पाँच लोकपाल, अपनी आत्मा और पाँच इन्द्रिय से कुछ भी गुप्त नहीं है । सुर और असुर सहित इस जगत में पाँच बड़े लोकपाल आत्मा और पाँच इन्द्रिय उन ग्यारह से कुछ भी गुप्त नहीं है। सूत्र - १९७
हे गौतम ! चार गति समान संसार में मगजल समान संसार के सुख से ठगित, भाव दोष समान शल्य से धोखा खाता है और संसार में चारों गति में घूमता है। सूत्र - १९८-२००
__ इतना विस्तार से कहा समझकर दृढ़ निश्चय और दिल से धीरज रखनी चाहिए । और फिर महा उत्तम सत्व समान भाले से माया राक्षसी को भेदना चाहिए । कईं सरल भाव से कई तरह माया को निर्मथन-विनाश करके विनय आदि अंकुश से फिर मान गजेन्द्र को वश में करे, मार्दव-सरलता समान मुसल-साँबिल से सेंकडो विषयों को चूर्ण कर देना और क्रोध-लाभ आदि मगर-मत्स्य को दूर से लड़ते हुए देखकर उसकी निंदा करे। सूत्र - २०१-२०५
निग्रह न किया हुआ क्रोध और मान, वृद्धि पानेवाले माया और लोभ ऐसे चार समग्र कषाय अतिशय दुःख से करके उद्धर न सके वैसे शल्य आत्मा में प्रवेश करे तब क्षमा से-उपशम से क्रोध को हर ले, नम्रता से मान को जीत ले, सरलता से माया को और संतोष के लोभ को जीतना इस प्रकार कषाय जीतकर जिसने सात भयस्थान
और आठ मदस्थान का त्याग किया है, वो गुरु के पास शुद्ध आलोचना ग्रहण करने के लिए तैयार हो । जिस प्रकार दोष, अतिचार, शल्य लगे हो उस मुताबिक अपना सर्व दुश्चरित्र शंका रहित, क्षोभ रखे बिना, गुरु से निर्भय होकर निवेदन करे । भूत-प्रेत ने घेरा हो या बच्चे की तरह अति सरलता से बोले वैसे गुरु सन्मुख जिस मुताबिक शल्यपाप हआ हो उस प्रकार सब यथार्थ निवेदन करे-आलोचना करे। सूत्र - २०६-२०७
पाताल में प्रवेश करके, पानी के भीतर जाकर, घर के भीतर गुप्त जगह में, रात को या अंधेरे में या माँ के साथ भी जो किया हो वो सब और उसके अलावा भी अन्य के साथ अपने दुष्कृत्य एक बार या बार-बार जो कुछ किए हो वो सब गुरु समक्ष यथार्थ कहकर बताना जिससे पाप का क्षय हो । सूत्र- २०८
गुरु महाराज भी उसे तीर्थंकर परमात्मा की आज्ञा के अनुसार प्रायश्चित्त कहे, जिससे शल्यरहित होकर असंयम का परिहार करे। सूत्र- २०९-२१०
असंयम पाप कहलाता है और वो कईं तरह से बताया है । वो इस प्रकार - हिंसा, झूठ, चोरी, मैथुन, परिग्रह । शब्द, रूप, रस, गंध, स्पर्श ऐसे पाँच इन्द्रिय के विषय, क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ वो चार कषाय, मन, वचन, काया ऐसे तीन दंड़ । इन पाप का त्याग किए बिना निःशल्य नहीं हो सकता। सूत्र-२११
पृथ्वी-अप-तेऊ, वायु वनस्पति ये पाँच स्थावर, छठे त्रस जीव या नव-दश अथवा चौदह भेद से जीव । या काया के विविध भेद से बताते कई तरह के जीव के हिंसा (के पाप की आलोचना करे ।) सूत्र - २१२
हितोपदेश छोड़कर सर्वोत्तम और पारमार्थिक तत्त्वभूत धर्म का मृषावचन कईं तरह का है उस मृषारूप सर्व शल्य (की आलोचना करे ।)

**Anger and pride that are not suppressed, Maya and greed that are increasing, these four aggregate kshayas cannot be rescued from excessive suffering, such shalya enters the soul, then one should overcome anger with forgiveness-pacification, conquer pride with humility, conquer Maya with simplicity, and conquer greed with contentment. In this way, having conquered the kshayas, one who has renounced the seven bhayasthanas and the eight madasthanas, is ready to receive pure criticism from the Guru. As per the defects, transgressions, and shalya that have occurred, one should present all one's bad character without doubt, without agitation, fearlessly to the Guru. As if the ghosts and spirits have surrounded him, or as if he is speaking with the simplicity of a child, one should present all the truth to the Guru, as per the shalya-paap that has occurred, and criticize oneself. Sutra - 206-207**

**Whatever has been done by entering the underworld, by going into the water, in a secret place in the house, at night or in darkness, or even with one's mother, and besides that, whatever other misdeeds have been done with others, once or repeatedly, one should tell the Guru truthfully, so that the sin may be destroyed. **The Guru Maharaj will also tell him the atonement according to the command of the Tirthankara Paramatma, so that he may become free from shalya and avoid asanaya. Sutra - 209-210**
