अध्ययन/उद्देश/सूत्रांक संयम में जयणा कैसे करनी वो मालूम न होने से महान कायक्लेश करनेवाला होता है । हमेशा आलोयणा देकर प्रायश्चित्त नहीं करता । तो तुम्हारा यह किया हुआ सर्व तप-संयम निष्फल होता है । जब इस प्रकार गुरु ने उसको प्रेरणा दी तब हमेशा आलोचना देते हैं, वो गुरु भी उसे उस तरह का प्रायश्चित्त देते हैं कि जिस प्रकार से संयम में जयणा करनेवाला बने । उसी के अनुसार रात-दिन हरएक समय आर्तध्यान, रौद्रध्यान से मुक्त शुभ अध्यवसाय में हमेशा विचरण करता था । हे गौतम ! किसी समय वो पापमतिवाला जो किसी छठ्ठ, अठुम, चार, पाँच, अर्धमास मास यावत् छ मास के उपवास या दूसरे बड़े कायक्लेश हो वैसे प्रायश्चित्त उसके अनुसार अच्छी तरह से सेवन करे लेकिन जो कुछ भी संयम क्रिया में जयणावाले मन, वचन, काया के योग, समग्र आश्रव का रोध, स्वाध्याय, ध्यान आवश्यक आदि से समग्र पापकर्म की राशि को जलाकर भस्म करने के लिए समर्थ प्रायश्चित्त है, उसमें प्रमाद करे, उसकी अवहेलना करे, अश्रद्धा करे, शिथिलता करे, यावत् अरे इसमें क्या दुष्कर है ? ऐसा करके उस प्रकार से यथार्थ प्रायश्चित्त सेवन न करे । हे गोतम ! वो सुसढ़ अपना यथायोग्य आयु भुगतकर मरकर सौधर्मकल्प में इन्द्र महाराजा के महर्द्धिक सामानिक देव के रूप में उत्पन्न हए । वहाँ से च्यवकर यहाँ वासुदेव बनकर सातवीं नरक पृथ्वी में उत्पन्न हुआ। वहाँ से नीकलकर महाकायवाला हाथी होकर मैथुनासक्त मानसवाला मरकर अनन्तकाय वनस्पति में गया । हे गौतम ! यह वो सुसढ़ कि जिसने - सूत्र-१५२५-१५२६
आलोचना, निन्दा, गर्दा, प्रायश्चित्त करने के बावजूद भी जयणा का अनजान होने से दीर्घकाल तक संसार में भ्रमण करेगा । हे भगवंत ! कौन-सी जयणा उसने न पहचानी कि जिससे उस प्रकार के दुष्कर काय-क्लेश करके भी उस प्रकार के लम्बे अरसे तक संसार में भ्रमण करेगा? हे गौतम ! जयणा उसे कहते हैं कि अठारह हजार शील के सम्पूर्ण अंग अखंड़ित और अविराधित यावज्जीव रात-दिन हरएक समय धारण करे और समग्र संयम क्रिया का अच्छी तरह से सेवन करे । वो सात उस सुसढ़ने न समझी । उस कारण से वो निर्भागी दीर्घकाल तक संसार में परिभ्रमण करेगा।
हे भगवंत ! किस कारण से जयणा उस के ध्यान में न आई ? हे गौतम ! जितना उसने कायक्लेश सहा उस के आँठवे हिस्से का यदि सचित्त जल का त्याग किया होता तो वो सिद्धि में ही पहुंच गया होता । लेकिन वो सचित्त जल का उपयोग परिभोग करता था । सचित्त जल का परिभोग करनेवाले कैसा भी कायक्लेश करे तो भी निरर्थक हो जाता है।
हे भगवंत ! अप्काय, अग्निकाय और मैथुन यह तीनों को महापाप के स्थानक बताए हैं । अबोधि देनेवाले हैं । उत्तम संयत साधु को उन तीनों का एकान्त में त्याग करना चाहिए । उसका सेवन न करना चाहिए । इस कारण से उसने उस जयणा को न समझा । हे भगवंत ! किस कारण से अपकाय, अग्निकाय, मैथुन अबोधि देनेवाले बताए हैं ? हे गौतम ! जो कि सर्व छह काय का समारम्भ महापाप स्थानक बताए हैं, लेकिन अप्काय अग्निकाय का समारम्भ अनन्त सत्त्व का उपघात करनेवाला है। मैथुन सेवन से संख्यात, असंख्यात जीव का
॥ है। सज्जड राग-द्वेष और मोह युक्त होने से एकान्त अप्रशस्त अध्यवसाय के आधीन होते हैं । जिस कारण से ऐसा होता है उस कारण से हे गौतम ! उन जीव का समारम्भ सेवन परिभोग करनेवाले ऐसे पाप में से व्यवहार करनेवाले जीव प्रथम महाव्रत को धारण करनेवाले न बने । उसकी कमी में बाकी के महाव्रत संयमानुष्ठान की कमी ही है, जिससे ऐसा है । इसलिए सर्वथा विराधित श्रमणपन माना जाता है । जिस कारण से इस प्रकार है इसलिए सम्यग् मार्ग प्रवर्तता है । उसका विनाश करनेवाला होता है । उस कारण से जो कुछ भी कर्मबंधन करे उससे नरक तिर्यंच कुमानवपन में अनन्त बार उत्पन्न हो कि जहाँ बार-बार धर्म ऐसे अक्षर भी सपने में न सुने और धर्म प्राप्त न करते हुए संसार में भ्रमण करे । इस कारण से जल, अग्नि और मैथुन अबोधिदायक बताए हैं।
