એ આદિ વિદ્યાસ્થાનમાં અને વિદ્વાનોના વિચારોના વાહક અને વર્તમાનપત્રમાં મરણ પશ્ચાત તેઓ વિષયે સ્મરણલેખ પ્રસિદ્ધ થયા છે, તેમાં પણ ફાર્બસ સાહેબના શુભ ગુણનું એકસ્વરે ગાન થયું છે. તેમાંથી એક વાનગી રૂપે તા. ૯ મી સપ્ટેમ્બર સને ૧૮૬૫ના ધી બાએ સાટર્ડ રેવ્યુ નામે પ્રતિષ્ઠિત પત્રમાંથી અત્ર ઉત્તારાય છે –
"Here (in Bombay) he at once entered into the confidence of the higher classes of Natives............... At the time of his death it may be said of him that he was unequalled for the individual affection entertained for him by his friends of all classes of men with whom he was brought either in official or social intercourse, as well as in the general esteem and respect of the inhabitants of Bombay and people of Gujarat.”
