P. 164–65 by (5) Rādha ( 216 )and Sumba are the Ladha(416) and Subbhabhumi of Ayaranga Sutta (S. B. E. XXII, P. 84-5) Suhma or Rādha must have comprised the modern districts of Hooghly, Howrah. Bankura, Bur. dwan, and the E. portions of Midnapore. Rādha was divided into Uttara and Dakshina Rādba by the river Ajaya.
આચારાંગ સૂત્રમાં રાઢ દેશ અને સુપ્પભૂમિને અનુક્રમે લાઢ અને શુભભૂમિ કહેવામાં આવેલ છે. સુહ કે રાઢમાં હાલના હુગલી, હાઉરા, બાંકુરા અને બર્દવાન જીલ્લાઓ તથા મિદનાપુરના પૂર્વભાગને સમાવેશ (અગાઉ) થત
જ જોઈએ. ઉત્તર અને દક્ષિણ રાઢ એમ બે ભાગે અજય નદીને લીધે પડતા હતા.
Cunningham's Ancient Geography, P. 732 (૬) રાઢ (લાલ) એટલે બંગ અને મગધ વચ્ચેને દેશ એમ Indian Historical quarterly P. 144-45 ( September 1983 )માં કહ્યું છે.
(૭) લાઢ દેશમાં નિર્ચન્થ-જેન સાધુઓની સંખ્યા વિશેષ હતી એમ હ્યુએનસાંગના “ ભારતભ્રમણ” નામના પુસ્તકના પૃ. ૫૨૬ માં કહ્યું છે.
