દીપ્રાદષ્ટિ : વરાગ્ય ભાવના-દુઃખમય સંસાર સ્વરૂપ
(૨૯) છે અને અંતે અત્યંત નીરસ નીવડે છે. આ શરીર રોગથી આક્રાંત થયેલું છે, યૌવન જરાથી આકાંત છે, અશ્વય અને વિનાશ છે, અને જીવનના અંતે મરણ છે. ઇંદ્રિય વિષયથી ઉપજતા એવા ક્ષણભંગુર સુખમાં રતિ કરીને ત્રિભુવન નષ્ટ થયું છે. આ વસ્તુમાત્ર પ્રતિક્ષણે વિનશ્વર છે, તે જાણતાં છતાં તું જાણતું નથી ! તે હે મૂઢ ! હાર કે ગ્રહ છે કે જેનું ઓસડ નથી ! જે પૂર્વે હારા શત્રુઓ હતા તે આ જન્મમાં કર્મવશે મ્હારા બંધુઓ બન્યા છે ! અને પૂર્વ જન્મમાં જે હાર બંધુઓ હતા, તે આ જન્મમાં મ્હારા શત્રુપણે ઉપજ્યા છે ! જેમ દેશાંતરથી આવીને પક્ષીઓ વૃક્ષમાં વાસ કરે છે, તેમ પ્રાણીઓ જન્માંતરથી આવીને કુલરૂપ વૃક્ષમાં વસે છે. પછી પ્રભાત થતાં આ પંખીઓ જેમ ઝાડને છેડીને પોતપોતાની દિશામાં ચાલ્યા જાય છે, તેમ આ પ્રાણીઓ પણ આયુપૂર્ણતારૂપ પ્રાતઃકાળ થતાં પોતપોતાના કર્મ પ્રમાણે જુદી જુદી ગતિમાં કયાંય ચાલ્યા જાય છે ! આમ આ બધેય પંખી મેળે છે. છતાં પ્રાણીઓનું આ વિચિત્ર ચરિત્ર તે જુઓ ! શરીર શીર્ણ (જીર્ણ) થાય છે, પણ આશા શીર્ણ થતી નથી ! આયુષ્ય ગણે છે, પણ પાપબુદ્ધિ ગળતી નથી ! મેહ કુરે છે, પણ આત્માર્થ સ્ફરતે નથી ! ખરેખર ! આયુ તો વાયુના તરંગ જેવું તરલચંચલ છે, સંપદાઓ આપદાઓ સાથે જોડાયેલી છે, સર્વ ઇંદ્રિય વિષય સંધ્યા સમયના વાદળાના રંગ જેવા છે, મિત્ર-સ્ત્રી-સ્વજનાદિના સંગમનું સુખ સ્વપ્ન-ઇંદ્રજાલ સમાન છે. તેથી આ સંસારમાં એવી તે કઈ વસ્તુ છે કે જે સંતજનેને આનંદનું કારણ થાય ?
આ ત્રિભુવનમાં એ કઈ પણ શરીરધારી નથી કે જેના કંઠમાં કૃતાન્તને પાશ નહિં આવી પડે. યમ–કેસરીને પાછા ન ઠેલાય એવા પગલાં જ્યારે પડે છે, ત્યારે મહામહેનત કરતાં દેથી પણ પ્રાણું રક્ષી શકાતો નથી, તે પછી માનવ–કીડાનું શું ગજું?”
“જન્મ જરા મરણ કરી એ, આ સંસાર અસાર તે;
ક્ય કર્મ સહુ અનુભવે એ, કેઈ ન રાખણહાર તે. શરણ એક અરિહંતનું એ, શરણ સિદ્ધ ભગવંત તે; શરણ ધર્મ શ્રી જૈનને એ, સાધુ શરણ ગુણવંત તે.

It is a defeat or a planet that has no cure! Those who were enemies of defeat before have become my friends in this birth due to karma! And those who were friends of defeat in the previous birth have become my enemies in this birth! Just as birds coming from foreign lands dwell in trees, so too do animals dwell in the tree of the family from birth after birth. Then, as the birds leave the tree and go in their own directions when dawn breaks, so too do these animals, when the morning of the completion of their lifespan arrives, go in different directions according to their karma! Thus, all these birds gather. Yet, see the strange character of animals! The body decays, but hope does not decay! Life is counted, but the mind of sin does not melt! Compassion rains, but the soul does not strive! Truly! Life is as fleeting as the waves of wind, wealth is connected with calamities, all sensory objects are like the colors of clouds at sunset, the happiness of the company of friends, women, relatives, etc. is like a dream-illusion. Therefore, what is there in this world that can cause joy to the saint?
There is no one in these three worlds who has a body who does not have the noose of death around their neck. When steps are taken that cannot be pushed back by Yama-Kesari, even with great effort, life cannot be saved, then what is the fate of the human-worm?”
“Born, aged, died, this world is impermanent;
Everyone experiences karma, no one is a keeper. The refuge is of the Arihant, the refuge is of the Siddha Bhagvant; The refuge is of the Dharma Shri Jain, the refuge is of the virtuous Sadhu.
