જોગ ન હોય તેા શું? તેના અહીં ખુલાસા કર્યાં છે કે શુશ્રુષા છતાં શ્રવણુ ન અને, તેપણ તે શુશ્રુષા થવી એ શુભભાવમાં પ્રવૃત્તિ છે, એટલે તેથી કરીને કક્ષયરૂપ કળ ઉપજે છે, અને તે કક્ષય ઉત્તમ પ્રકારના એધનુ નિમ...ધન-કારણુ હેાય છે. આમ કેવલ શુશ્રુષા-સાંભળવાની સાચી અંતરંગ ઇચ્છા થવી તે પણ ઘણી મેટી વાત છે, પ્રશસ્ત છે, અને પરપરાએ તે પણુ લાભદાયક થાય છે. કારણ કે તેવા શુભભાવથી આગમના પ્રમાણપણાને લીધે ક`ના ક્ષય થાય છે, અને તેના પરિણામે પરમ મેધના નિમિત્ત મળી આવે છે. જે સાચા તપિપાસુ મુમુક્ષુ હાય છે, તેને તેના ભાગ્યાયથી ખેંચાઇને ઉત્તરાત્તર પ્રધાન મેધના કારણેા પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે; સત્પુરુષ સદ્ગુરુના જોગ ખની આવે છે, ને સત્ શ્રુત વગેરેની પ્રાપ્તિ થાય છે. લેાચુંખક જેમ લેાહુને ખેં'ચે, તેમ તેવુ તેવાને ખેંચે છે (Like attracts like). આ શુશ્રૂષામાં પણ એવું કોઈ અજય આકર્ષણ છે, કે સાચા વક્તા સત્પુરુષના સમાગમ ગમે ત્યાંથી થઈ આવે છે. જો તરસ ઝાવવાની ઇચ્છા છે, તે તે બૂઝાવવાની રીત પણ
મળી આવે છે.
શુશ્રૂષાથી ક ક્ષય
આમ શુશ્રુષા વિનાનું શ્રવણ નિષ્ફળ છે, પણ શ્રવણુ વિનાની શુશ્રૂષા નિષ્ફળ નથી, પરંતુ કર્મક્ષયરૂપ ફળથી સફળ છે. સાચી ભૂખ લાગી હાય ને ખાધુ હોય તે જેમ ભાવે, રુચે, મીઠું લાગે ને પચે; ખૂબ તરસ લાગી હાય ને પાણી શુષાના જેમ મીઠું· અમૃત જેવું લાગે, ને તરસ છીપે; તેમ જ તત્ત્વ સાંભળવાની મહિમા સાચી ભૂખ લાગી હાય, તત્ત્વસુધારસ-પાનની સાચી તરસ લાગી હાય, તા જ તે શ્રવણુ ભાવે છે, રુચે છે, ને જીવને અમૃતરૂપે પરિણમે છે; નહિં તે। કાણા માટલાની જેમ બીજા ક-છિદ્ર વાટે મહાર નીકળી જાય છે! હૃદયમાં ઠરતુ નથી ! માટે આ શુશ્રુષા ગુણુનું માહાત્મ્ય ઘણુ' છે.

ચેાગમાં અક્ષેપ ગુણ કહે છે—
शुभयेोगसमारम्भे न क्षेपोऽस्यां कदाचन ।
उपायकौशलं चापि चारु तद्विषयं भवेत् ॥ ५५ ॥ શુભ યોગ સમારંભમાં, કદી ક્ષેપ અહિં નથ્ય; ને તે વિષયોં ઉપાયનું, કૌશલ સુદર હોય. ૫૫
