: : It is hoped that this Samketa of Someśvara will be appreciated by scholars as an interesting and illuminating work on Sanskrit Poetics,
It is a pleasant duty to acknowledge the help and assistance received from scholar-friends, First and foremost is the Generel Editor of the Series-Acharya Muni Shri Jinavijayaji, who asked me to prepare, for the Rajasthān Purātattva Granthamala, a critical edition of the Kavyādarśa-Kāvyaprakāśa-Samketa which was carefully copied under his personal supervision by Pandit Keshavram Kashiram Shastri. Prof. Dr. Priyabālā Shah my former student and now colleague has rendered me assistance in a number of ways, particularly in the preparation of appendixes containing the various readings of K. P. and K. P.S. and helping me in tracing quotations in the K. P.S. to their original sources. For this labour of love my thanks are due to her.
I acknowledge with thanks the assistance received from Pandit K. K. Shastri, whose carefully prepared press-copy was of so much use to me. He also considerably helped me in indicating some paralleisms from the Samketa of Māņikyacandra as well as proof-reading. सच्छब्दार्थशरीरस्य काऽलंकारव्यस्थितिः । यावत्कल्याणमाणिक्यप्रबन्धो न निरीक्ष्यते ॥ (p. 16). Ullasa II.
सम्यक्शब्द विभागश्रीस्तेषां न स्याद्दवीयसी । परिच्युता न सङ्केतायेषां मतिनितम्बिनी (p. 49 ). Ullāsa III.
मनोवृत्ते ! भोक्तुं निबिडजडिमोढापि परितः परस्मै चेत् काव्याद्भुतपरिमलाय स्पृहयसि ।
समुद्यद्वैदग्ध्यध्वनिसुभगसर्वार्थजनने तदा सङ्केतेऽस्मिन्नवहितवतीं सूत्रय रतिम् ।। (p, 58). Ullāsa IV.
