रागद्वेषक्षयादेति ज्ञानी विषयशून्यताम् । छिद्यते भिद्यते चाऽयं, हन्यते वा न जातुचित् ॥४७॥
भावार्थ : ज्ञानी राग-द्वेष के क्षय होने से विषयों की शून्यता को प्राप्त कर लेता है । उसका कदापि किसी के द्वारा छेदन, भेदन या विनाश नहीं हो सकता ॥४७॥ अनुस्मरति नातीतं, नैव कांक्षत्यनागतम् । शीतोष्णसुखदुःखेषु समो मानापमानयोः ॥४८॥
भावार्थ : ज्ञानी पुरुष बीते हुए समय (अतीत की बातों का) स्मरण नहीं करते, तथा अनागत की इच्छा नहीं करते एवं शीत-उष्ण, सुख-दुःख, मान-अपमान इन सभी स्थितियों में सम रहते हैं। अब आठ श्लोकों द्वारा ज्ञानयोगी का स्वरूप बताते हैं- ॥४८॥ जितेन्द्रियो जितक्रोधो मानमायानुपद्रुतः । लोभसंस्पर्शरहितो, वेदखेदविवर्जितः ॥४९॥
भावार्थ : वे (ज्ञानयोगी) जितेन्द्रिय, क्रोधविजयी, मान और माया के उपद्रव से रहित, लोभ के स्पर्श से रहित, एवं वेदोदयजनित काम की पीड़ा से मुक्त होते हैं ॥४९॥ सन्निरुध्यात्मनाऽत्मानं स्थितः स्वकृतकर्मभित् । हठप्रयत्नोपरतः सहजाचारसेवनात् ॥५०॥ १८२
