अध्यात्मका स्वरूप
भगवन् ! किं तदध्यात्मं यदित्थमुपवर्ण्यते । श्रृणु, वत्स ! यथाशास्त्र वर्णयामि पुरस्तव ॥१॥
भावार्थ : ‘भगवन् ! जिसके माहात्म्य का आपने वर्णन किया है, वह अध्यात्म क्या है ?" इस प्रकार शिष्य के प्रश्न करने पर गुरुदेव उसका उत्तर देते हैं - 'वत्स ! शास्त्र में कहे अनुसार मैं तुम्हारे सामने अध्यात्म का वर्णन करता हूँ, उसे ध्यानपूर्वक सुनो' ॥१॥
गतमोहाधिकाराणामात्मानमधिकृत्य या । प्रवर्तते क्रिया शुद्धा तदध्यात्मं जगुर्जिनाः ॥२॥
भावार्थ : जिनके मोह का सामर्थ्य नष्ट हो गया है, उनके द्वारा आत्मा को लक्ष्य करके जो शुद्ध (निर्दोष) क्रिया की जाती है, जिनेश्वरों ने उसे ही अध्यात्म कहा है ॥२॥ सामायिकं यथा सर्वचारित्रेष्वनुवृत्तिमत् । अध्यात्मं सर्वयोगेषु तथानुगतमिष्यते ॥३॥
भावार्थ : जैसे सभी प्रकार के चारित्रों में सामायिक सहचारी है, वैसे ही समस्त योगों में अध्यात्म का सहगामी होना अभीप्सित है ॥३॥
