415 Nânge kiye Deshâe, dûnê shorâ jawâen.

"Sahi lâie de Pândeâ, Rânâ Jungo ke Koti?"
Palani karla Dharma, Mohiye ri sewâ,
"Âya shûnte Deshûe, Rânâ Sukheto khe dewâ.
420 Kâți ghâlies tinîyen, tumri ri shiri. Tere dare, Rânâ sahiba, lai ghali fakiri. Shunâ chhari Junga, shûnt Râ ne ri Koți.
Mhâre karni Deshû dhâro, basne rî tharott."

Palani Râne râ Dharma, dere dere dâ hando,
Kirya re jye bagche, bûnî lafo phândo.
Palani re Dharme, Jungo khe jolt:
"Shale pari rûwe bairi, dârû karo goli." 430 Nau sau man misri Râne, ron-non khe pâi.
Misri chango ron-uon di, ubhe bândhle mâthe.
A dhe khe pûgi misri, âdhe bishke hâthe."7 Charhi âyâ katak, garji rowî dhâro.
Châli rahî faujo, lekhâ ruwa ni gano.

415 On the ridge of Deshû, both father-in-law and son-in-law were stripped by him. Dharmâ repeatedly said all he could of evil (against the Rânâ of Junga).
"Tell me true, O Pândâ, whether the Rânâ be at Jungâ or at Koți."
(But) Dharmâ the Palânî wished to serve Mohi Parkash (and said :-)
"Hearing of thy arrival at Deshû, the Rânâ went to Suket.
420 He has cut off the head of a gourd.
In fear of thee, the Rânâ Sahib hath become a mendicant.
Desolate hath he left Jungâ and Koți of the Rânâ.
On the Deshû ridge we must make a house to dwell in."
Dharmâ the Palânî went to each tent.
425 At each tent of the retinue he realised offerings.
Dharma, the Rânâ's Palani, goes to every tent,
And ties together his bundles, like the bundles gifted at the death-rite.
Dharmâ the Palani turns his face to Jungâ, saying: -
"Idle lies the enemy, get powder and ball ready."
430 Nine hundred maunds of sugar the Rânâ bade throw into the court-yard.
In the court-yard the people pick up the sugar and salute the Rânâ as he stands above.
Half of the army got the sugar, but the other half went empty-handed.
The array ascended the hills which resounded with the din.
The army marched away, and no account of it could be kept.
Hadt khott: spoke against (the Rând.) H&dt=word, abuse: khoti, evil.

parcels; Joli: sent word; shale pari ruwe bairi: the enemy is cold.
