the northern Vikrama-Samvat 1256, the month and the Parigha yoga are correct only Vaisakha of which fell in A.D. 1199. But, for the 30th April, A.D. 1200; and not for by Prof. K. L. Chhatre's Tables, the given the 12th April, A.D. 1199; nor even for tithi then ended on Monday, the 12th April, the given tithi in the Vaisakha that fell in A.D. 1199. If, on the other hand, we treat A.D. 1201. There can, therefore, be no doubt the year as the southern Vikrama-Samvat 1256, I as to the correct English equivalent of the of which the month Vaisakha fell in A.D. 1200, given lithi. And the date can be interpreted then I find, by the same Tables, that the given as a northern date, only if we look on the tithi ended on Sunday, the 30th April, A.D. text as meaning thu full-moon tithi of the 1200; and, as the preceding new-moon tithi month Vaisakha in Vikrama-Samvat 1257 ended on Saturday, the 15th April, the given current, after the expiration of Vikramatithi ended on the fifteenth solar day in the Samvat 1256; and if we then treat Vikramafortnight, as denoted by the use of the ab- Samvat 1257 itself as an expired year, for the breviations iu di. Also, Mr. Sh. B. Dikshit tells purposes of calculation according to the present me that the details of the Visakha nakshatra Tables.

13 In the case of a final a, followed by an initial ri, it is usual to join the vowels in regular samdhi. But Dr. Hultzsch has drawn my attention to the fact that the commentary on Papini, vi. 1, 129, rity-aka, states that the rahdhi hero is in accordance with the opinion of Sabalys, and thus seems to intimate that, according to other grammarians, the sandhi is optional, and a hiatus is equally permissible..
