५५. समसंतोसजलेणं, जो धोवदि तिव्व-लोहमल- पुंजं ।
भोयण-गिद्धि-विहीणो, तस्स सउच्चं हवे विमलं ॥१३॥
जो समता और सन्तोष रूपी जल से तीव्र लोभ रूपी मलसमूह को धोता है और जिसमें भोजन लिप्सा नहीं है, उसके विमल शौच-धर्म होता है ।

૫૫. જે સમતા અને સંતોષરૂપી જળથી લોભરૂપી મળ-સમૂહને ધૂએ છે जने भेनामां मोंन-लालसा नथी, खेने विशुद्ध शौय-धर्म उहे छे.
55. One who washes the dirtclusters (mud) like greed with the water of equanimity and content and who does not hanker for (delicious) food, is said to possess pure 'Sauch' Dharma. i.e. Holy faith.

५६. वय समिदि - कसायाणं, दंडाणं तह इंदियाणं पंचण्हं । धारण- पालण - णिग्गह-चाय-जओ-संजमो
भणिओ ||१४||
व्रत-धारण, समिति - पालन अर्थात् सम्यक् प्रवृत्ति, कषायनिग्रह, मन-वचन-काया की प्रवृत्तिरूप दण्ड अर्थात् हिंसा का त्याग और पंचेन्द्रिय-जय-इन सबको संयम कहा जाता है ।

૫૬. વ્રત આદરવા, સમિતિનું પાલન એટલે સમ્યક્ પ્રવૃત્તિ, કષાયતિગ્રહ, મત-વયત-કયાતી પ્રવૃત્તિરૂપ દંડ અર્થાત્ હિંસાતો ત્યાગ અને પંચેન્દ્રિય પર વિજય આ બધાંને સંયમ કહેવામાં खावे छे.
56. Observance of vows, sincere following of (five) samities i.e. conscious, careful, rightful acts with utmost precison means rightful activities. Control of anger, pride, deceipt and greed is the prime activity of mind, speech & deeds, is performed by avoiding violence and punishment arising therefrom as also conquering over
five senses. All these acts are called restraint a 'Samyam.”
