५३. जहा लाहो तहा लोहो, लाहा लोहो पवड्डई ।
दोमासकयं कज्जं, कोडीए वि न निट्ठियं ॥११॥ जैसे-जैसे लाभ होता है, वैसे-वैसे लोभ होता है । लाभ से लोभ बढ़ता है। दो माशा सोने से निष्पन्न होने वाला कार्य
तृष्णा के कारण करोड़ों स्वर्ण-मुद्राओं से भी पूरा नहीं होता। ૫૩. જેમ જેમ લાભ થાય છે, તેમ તેમ લોભ થાય છે. લાભથી
લોભ વધે છે. બે માશા સોનાથી પૂરું થતારું કામ, તૃષ્ણાને કારણે કરોડો સોના મહોરથી પણ પૂરું થતું નથી.
53. Greed increses in the same proportion as gain/
benefit increases. Increased gain is the cause for increase of greed. Two grams of gold was enough for the purpose, but because of greed covered lust for gain, even crores of golden coins do not quench the thirst, so aroused.
५४. सुवण्णरुप्पस्स उ पव्वया भवे, सिया हु केलाससमा असंखया ।
नरस्स लुद्धस्स न तेहि किंचि, इच्छा हु आगाससमा अणंतिया ॥१२॥
कदाचित् सोने और चाँदी के कैलास के समान असंख्य पर्वत हो जायें, तो भी लोभी पुरुष को उनमें तृप्ति नहीं होती, क्योंकि
इच्छा आकाश के समान अनन्त है । ૫૪. કદાચ સોના અને ચાંદીના કૈલાસ જેવા અસંખ્ય પર્વત થઈ
જાય, તોપણ લોભી પુરુષને સંતોષ થતો નથી, કારણ કે ઇચ્છા
આકાશ સમાન અનંત છે. 54. Even if innumerable mountains of Gold & Silver
of the size of the mountain Kailash are gifted, a greedy person will not be satisfied (contended) with them, because, wishes (desires)
