________________ श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् षोडशं श्री गाथाध्ययन अहाह भगवं-एवं से दंते दविए वोसट्ठकाएत्ति वच्चे माहणेत्ति वा . समणेत्ति वा भिक्खूत्ति वा, णिग्गंथेत्ति वा, पडिआह-भंते ! कहं नदंतेदविए वोसट्टकाएत्ति वच्चे माहणेत्ति वा समणेत्ति वा भिक्खत्ति वा णिग्गंथेत्ति वा ? तं नो बूहि महामुणी ! ॥ इतिविरए सव्वपाव कम्मेहिं पिजदोसकलह० अब्भक्खाण० पेसुन्न० परपरिवाय० अरतिरति० मायामोस० मिच्छादसणसल्लविरए सहिए समिए सया जए णो कुज्झे णो माणी माहणेत्ति वच्चे ॥१॥ छाया - अथाह भगवान्-एवं स दान्तो द्रव्यः व्युत्सृष्टकाय, इति वाच्यः माहन इति वा श्रमण इति वा भिक्षुरिति वा निग्रन्थ इति वा । प्रत्याह भदन्त । कथं नु दान्तो द्रव्यः व्युत्सृष्टकाय इति वाच्यः माहन इति वा श्रमण इति वा भिक्षु रिति वा निग्रन्थ इति वा ? तन्नो ब्रहि महामने ! । इतिविरतः सर्वपापकर्मभ्यः प्रेमद्वेषकलहाभ्याख्यान पैशन्यपरपरीवादारतिरतिमायामृषामिथ्यादर्शनशल्य विरतः समितः सहितः सदा यतः न क्रुध्येन्नो मानी माहन इति वाच्यः । अनुवाद - इसके बाद भगवान ने कहा कि पन्द्रह अध्यायों में वर्णित अर्थ से युक्त जो पुरुष दांतदमनशील है, इन्द्रिय एवं मन का विजेता है, व्युत्सृष्टकाय-जिसने देह का, दैहिक आसक्ति का व्युत्सर्ग-विसर्जन कर दिया है, उसे माहन, श्रमण, भिक्षु या निर्ग्रन्थ शब्द से अभिहित किया जाता है । शिष्य ने प्रश्न किया-भगवन् ! वह जो दमनशील है, दैहिक आसक्ति विवर्जित है, वह माहन, श्रमण, भिक्षु अथवा निर्ग्रन्थ शब्द द्वारा क्यों संबोधित किया जाना चाहिये ? हे महामुनि ! हमें आप यह बतलाये । जो सब पापों से विरत है, राग, द्वेष, कलह अभ्याख्यान, पैशून्य, पर परिवाद, अरति, रति, माया, मृषा तथा मिथ्यादर्शन शल्य का परिहार-परित्याग कर चुका है । सहित-स्व पर कल्याण में निरत है, समित-जो पांच समितियों से युक्त है अत: जो संयम में उद्यत है, जो क्रोध नहीं करता, मान नहीं करता वह माहन शब्द द्वारा वाच्य है । ___टीका - 'अथे' त्ययं शब्दोऽवसानमङ्गलार्थः, आदिमंगलं तु बुध्येतेत्यनेनाभिहितं, अत आद्यन्तयोर्मङ्गलत्वात्सर्वोऽपि श्रुतस्कन्धो मङ्गलमित्येतदनेनावेदितं भवति । आनन्तर्ये वाऽथशब्दः, पञ्चदशाध्ययनानन्तरं तदर्थसंग्राहीदं षोडशमध्ययनं प्रारम्भते । अथानन्तरमाह-'भगवान' उत्पन्न दिव्यज्ञानः सदेवमनुजायां पर्षदीदं वक्ष्यमाणमाह, तद्यथा-एवमसौ पञ्चदशाध्ययनोक्तार्थयुक्तः स साधुदन्ति इन्द्रियनोइन्द्रिय दमनेन द्रव्यभूतो मुक्तिगमनयोग्यत्वात् 'द्रव्यं च भव्ये' इति वचनात् राग द्वेष कालि कापद्रव्यरहितत्वाद्वा जात्यसुवर्णवत् शुद्धद्रव्यभूतस्तथा व्युत्सृष्टो निष्प्रतिकर्मशरीरतया काय:-शरीरं येन स भवति व्युत्सृष्टकायः, तदेवंभूतः सन् पूर्वोक्ताध्ययनार्थेषु वर्तमानः प्राणिनः स्थावरजङ्गमसूक्ष्मबादरपर्याप्तकापर्याप्तकभेदभिन्नान् मा हणत्ति प्रवृत्तिर्यस्यासौ माहनो नवब्रह्मचर्यगुप्तिगुप्तो 6180
