_आदाननामकं अध्ययनं छाया - निष्ठितार्थाश्च देवा वा, उत्तरीये इदं श्रुतम् ।
श्रुतञ्च मे इद मेकेषा, ममनुष्येषु नो तथा ॥ अनुवाद - उत्तरीय-लोकोत्तर प्रवचन या आगम में यह प्रतिपादित है कि मनुष्य ही कर्मों को क्षीण कर सिद्धत्त्व प्राप्त करते हैं या देव होते हैं । मैंने तीर्थंकर देव से यह श्रवण किया है । मनुष्येतर गतिवर्ती प्राणी सिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं करते ।
टीका - इदमेवाह-'निष्ठितार्थाः' कृतकृत्या भवन्ति, केचन प्रचुरकर्मतया सत्यामपि सम्यक्त्वादिकायां सामण्यां न तद्भव एव मोक्षमास्कन्दन्ति अपितु सौधर्माद्याः पञ्चो (ञ्चानु) त्तरविमानावसाना देवा भवन्तीति, एतल्लोकोत्तरीये प्रवचने श्रुतम्-आगमः एवंभूतः सुधर्मस्वामी वा जम्बूस्वामिनमुद्दिश्यैवमाहयथा मयैतल्लोकोत्तरीये भगवत्यर्हत्युपलब्धं, तद्यथा-अवाप्तसम्यक्त्वादिसामग्रीकं: सिध्यति वैमानिको वा भवतीति । मनुष्यगतमेवैतन्नान्योति दर्शयितुमाह-'सुयं में इत्यादि पश्चाई, तच्च मया तीर्थकरान्तिके श्रुतम्' अवगतं, गणधर:स्वशिष्याणामेकेषामिदमाहयथा मनुष्य एवाशेषकर्मक्षयात्सिद्धिगतिभाग्भवति नामनुष्य इति, एतेन यच्छाक्यैरभिहितं, तद्यथा-देव एवाशेषकर्मप्रहाणं कृत्वा मोक्षभाग्भवति, तदपास्तं भवति, न ह्यमनुष्येषु गतित्रयवर्तिषु सच्चारित्रपरिणामाभावाद्यथा मनुष्याणां तथा मोक्षावाप्तिरिति ॥१६॥ इदमेव स्वनामग्राहमाह -
टीकार्थ - मनुष्य उपर्युक्त रूप में निष्ठितार्थ-मोक्ष प्राप्त कर कृतकृत्य होते हैं, किंतु कई ऐसे होते हैं जो कर्मों की प्रचुरता के कारण सम्यक्त्व आदि सामग्री के प्राप्त होने के बावजूद उसी भव में मोक्ष प्राप्त नहीं करते किंतु सौधर्मादि अनुत्तर विमानवासी देव होते हैं । यह लोकोत्तर प्रवचन में प्रतिपादित है-आगम वचन है । सुधर्मास्वामी जम्बूस्वामी को उद्दिष्ट कर कहते हैं कि मैंने लोकोत्तर-लोक में सर्वोत्तम तीर्थंकर देव से यह प्राप्त किया है, सुना है कि सम्यक्त्व आदि सामग्री को प्राप्त कर मनुष्य सिद्धत्त्व प्राप्त करता है या वैमानिक देव होता है । यह मनुष्यगत ही है-मनुष्य योनि में ही होता है, अन्यत्र नहीं होता है । इसका दिग्दर्शन कराने हेतु सूत्रकार कहते हैं-गणधर आदि अपने किन्हीं शिष्यों को सम्बोधित कर बतलाते हैं कि मैंने तीर्थंकर देव से यह श्रवण किया है कि मनुष्य ही समस्त कर्मों को क्षीणकर सिद्धि गति का भागी होता है । अमनुष्यमनुष्यों के सिवाय अन्य नहीं होते । इससे बौद्धों का यह कथन कि समग्र कर्मों का प्रहाण-नाश कर देव ही मोक्ष भागी होता है, अपास्त-खण्डित हो जाता है क्योंकि मनुष्यों के अतिरिक्त जो तीन गतियां हैं, उनमें सम्यक्चारित्र की परिणति-उपलब्धि न होने के कारण मनुष्य की तरह मोक्ष की प्राप्ति संभव नहीं है।
इसी को अपने नाम ग्रहण के साथ अभिहित करते हैं ।
अंतं करंति दक्खाणं, इहमेगेसि आहियं ।
आघायं पुण एगेसिं, दुल्लभेऽयं समुस्सए ॥१७॥ छाया - अन्तं कुर्वन्ति दुःखाना मिल्केषामाख्यातम् ।
आख्यातं पुनरेकेषां दुर्लभोऽयं समुच्छ्रयः ॥ अनुवाद - गणधर आदि महापुरुषों द्वारा यह आख्यात हुआ हैं कि मनुष्य ही समस्त दुःखों का नाश करने में समर्थ हैं, अन्य प्राणी नहीं । पुनश्च किन्हीं का यह प्रतिपादन हैं कि समुच्छ्य-मानवदेह या मानवभव प्राप्त करना बड़ा दुर्लभ हैं।
