श्री समवसरणाध्ययनं
करता है और जिसको उदिष्ट कर माया का प्रतिपादन कियाजाता है, इन दोनों का अभाव होने से फिर माया अवस्थिति कैसे टिक सकती है। स्वप्न भी जाग्रत अवस्था की स्थिति होने पर ही होता है । अतः स्वप्न को स्वीकार करते हैं इससे जाग्रत अवस्था अवश्य ही स्वीकृत हो जाती है । जाग्रत अवस्था के स्वीकृत या सिद्ध होने पर सर्वशून्यत्त्व की हानि होती है - सर्वशून्यत्त्व टिक नहीं पाता । स्वप्न भी अभावात्मक नहीं है क्योंकि स्वप्न में भी अनुभूत - दृष्ट पदार्थों का लोक में अस्तित्त्व होता है । अतएव कहा गया है कि अनुभूत, दृष्ट, चिन्तित, श्रुत प्रकृति विकार, देवप्रभाव, पुण्य एवं पाप स्वप्न के हेतु होते हैं । किन्तु अभाव स्वप्न का हेतु नहीं होता । इन्द्रजाल की व्यवस्था भी तो अन्य वस्तु के सत्य होने पर ही की जाती है - वह सत्य का कृत्रिम रूप ही तो है किन्तु जब लोक में कोई पदार्थ सत्य है ही नहीं तब कौन किसे उदिष्ट कर इन्द्रजाल रचेगा ? दो चन्द्रों का जो आभास होता है वह भी रात्रि के सत्य होने पर ही एवं उनका आभास कराने वाले एक चंद्र के सत्य होने पर ही संभावित है । सर्वशून्यत्व होने की स्थिति में यह घटित नहीं हो सकता । किसी भी वस्तु के अत्यन्त सूक्ष्म रूप का अभाव नहीं होता । अत्यन्त अभाव के रूप में शशविषाण- खरगोश के सींग, कूर्म रोम - कछुए के बाल तथा गगनारविन्द - आकाश में कमल इत्यादि के रूप में जो प्रसिद्ध है उनके समासयुक्त पदों के वाच्य अर्थ का ही अभाव हैं, समासगत प्रत्येक पद के वाच्य अर्थ का अभाव नहीं होता क्योंकि इस लोक में खरगोश भी प्राप्त है तथा सींग भी प्राप्त है। इसलिये यहां खरगोश के सिर पर समवाय संबंध से विद्यमान सींग का ही निषेध प्रतिपादित किया जाता है । इस प्रकार यहां केवल संबंध का निषेध है । वस्तुपदार्थ का अत्यन्त अभाव नहीं है। अन्यत्र भी ऐसा जानना चाहिये । इस प्रकार अस्ति इत्यादि क्रिया के विद्यमान होने पर भी प्रज्ञाशून्य इतर मतावलम्बी अक्रियावाद का आश्रय लेते हैं- उसमें विश्वास करते हैं ।
जिनकी प्रज्ञा - बुद्धि अनिरुद्ध है, ज्ञानावरणीय आदि कर्मों से आवृत्त नहीं है वे पदार्थ के यथावस्थितजैसा वह है, उस स्वरूप को जानते हैं। जैसे अवधि ज्ञानी, मनःपर्यव ज्ञानी तथा केवलज्ञानी तीनों लोकों में विद्यमान पदार्थों को हथेली में रखे हुए आंवले की तरह देखते हैं तथा समग्र श्रुतगामी भी आगम के सहारे भूत तथा भविष्य से सम्बद्ध अर्थ - पदार्थों को जानते हैं । अष्टांग निमित्तवेत्ता अन्य पुरुष भी निमित्त के माध्यम से जीव आदि पदार्थों का परिच्छेद करते हैं- पहचान करते हैं- जानते हैं ।

अनुवाद - संसार में ऐसे बहुत से व्यक्ति हैं जो ज्योतिष शास्त्र, स्वप्नशास्त्र, लक्षणशास्त्र, देहगत चिन्हों का ज्ञान सूचक शास्त्र, निमित्त शास्त्र, उल्कापात तथा दिग्दाह आदि के फल प्रतिपादन करने वाले अष्टांग शास्त्रों का अध्ययन कर अनागत काल की बातें बताते हैं ।
टीका - 'सांवत्सर' मिति ज्योतिषं स्वप्नप्रतिपादको ग्रन्थः स्वप्नस्तमधीत्य 'लक्षणं' श्रीवत्सादिकं, च शब्दादान्तरबाह्यभेदभिन्नं, 'निमित्तं' वाक्प्रशस्तशकुनादिकं देहे भवं दैहं-मषकतिलकादि, उत्पाते भवमौत्पातिकम्उल्कापातदिग्दाहनिघतिमूभिकम्पादिकं, तथा अष्टांग च निमित्तमधीत्य, तद्यथा - भोममुत्पातं स्वप्नमान्तरिक्षमांगं
