श्री वीर्याध्ययनं
अपि त्यागादिभिर्गुणैर्लोकपूज्या अपि तथा सुभटवादं वहन्तोऽपि सम्यक् तत्त्वपरिज्ञान विकलाः केचन भवन्तीति दर्शयति न सम्यगसम्यक् तद्भावोऽसम्यक्त्वं तद्द्रष्टुं शीलं येषां ते तथा, मिथ्यादृष्टय इत्यर्थः, तेषां च बालानां यत्किमपि तपोदानाध्ययन यमनियमादिषु पराक्रान्तमुद्यमकृतं तदशुद्धं अविशुद्धिकारि प्रत्युत कर्मबन्धाय, भावो पहतत्वात् सनिदानत्वाद्वेति कुवैद्यचिकित्सावद्धि परीतानुबन्धीति, तच्च तेषां पराक्रान्तं सह फलेन - कर्म बन्धेन वर्तत इति सफलं 'सर्वश' इति सर्वाऽपि तत्क्रिया तपोऽनुष्ठानादिका कर्मबन्धोयैवेति ॥२२॥ साम्प्रतं पण्डितवीर्यिणोऽधिकृत्याह
टीकार्थ - जो पुरुष बुद्ध धर्म के रहस्य या सार को नहीं जानते, व्याकरण के शुष्क तर्कों के ज्ञान के बल पर अपने को अत्यन्त अहंकारी, पण्डित मानते हैं, वे परमार्थ वस्तु तत्व - यथार्थ ज्ञान से रहित हैं । इसलिए उनको अबुद्ध-अज्ञ कहा गया है । सम्यक्त्व के बिना केवल व्याकरण के परिज्ञान से पदार्थ के सत्यस्वरूप का अवबोध नहीं होता । कहा गया है कि शास्त्रों में अवगाहन - गहराई तक प्रविष्ट तथा उनकी व्याख्या करने में तत्पर - कुशल होते हुये भी अज्ञ पुरुष वस्तुतत्व - वस्तु के यथार्थ स्वरूप को नहीं जान पाता । जैसे गर्वी- कुछ या चम्मच तरह तरह के सरस पदार्थों में चिरकाल पर्यन्त पड़ा रहता हुआ भी उनके रस के स्वाद को नहीं जान पाता । अथवा बालवीर्य युक्त पुरुष को अबुद्ध कहा जाता है। भाग शब्द पूजा या सत्कार द्योतक है । जो लोगों द्वारा पूजनीय व माननीय होते हैं वे महाभाग कहें जाते हैं। वे लोक विश्रुत होते हैं। जो शत्रु की सेनाओं का भेदन करने में, उन्हें छिन्न-भिन्न करने में सक्षम होते हैं, वे सुघड़ कहे जाते हैं । कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि कई पुरुष पण्डित व्याकरण आदि विषयों के विद्वान् तथा त्याग आदि विशेषताओं के कारण लोक में पूज्य - सत्कार योग्य तथा सुभट-युद्ध में शौर्यशाली होते हुये भी वस्तु के सत्य स्वरूप को नहीं जानते हैं, सूत्रकार ऐसा अभिव्यक्त करते हैं । जो सम्यक् यथार्थ - ठीक नहीं है, उसे असम्यक् कहा जाता है। असम्यक् भाव या स्वरूप असम्यक्त्व कहलाता है । जो असम्यक्त्व युक्त होते हैं वे मिथ्या दृष्टि हैं । वे बाल- धार्मिक दृष्टि से अज्ञ हैं । इन मिथ्यादृष्टि पुरुषों का तप, दान, अध्ययन, यम एवं नियम आदि में तन्मूलक साधना में किया गया पराक्रम-उद्यम अशुद्ध है अविशुद्धिकारी है। इसलिए वह कर्मबंध का हेतु है । क्योंकि वह सम्यक्त्व भाव से रहित है - तथा फलाभिकांक्षा युक्त है। जैसे कुवैद्य-अयोग्य चिकित्सक की चिकित्सा से रोग नष्ट नहीं होता किन्तु वह बढ़ता ही है, उसी प्रकार उन अज्ञ जनों का पराक्रम उद्यम या क्रिया कलाप कर्म बंध सहित होता है । इस प्रकार मिथ्यात्वी द्वारा निष्पादित तपश्चरण आदि सभी क्रियायें कर्म बंध के लिए ही होती हैं । अब पण्डित वीर्य युक्त पुरुषों के सम्बन्ध में सूत्रकार कहते हैं ।

जे य बुद्धा महाभागा, वीरा सम्मत्तदंसिणो ।
सुद्धं तेसिं परक्कंतं, अफलं होइ सव्वसो ॥२३॥

ये च बुद्धाः महाभागाः वीराः सम्यक्त्वदर्शिनः । शुद्धं तेषां पराक्रान्त मफलं भवति सर्वशः ॥
अनुवाद जो बुद्ध - वस्तुत्ववेत्ता, महाभाग पदपूजनीय तथा कर्मों के विदारण में समर्थ सम्यक् दृष्टि हैं उनके तपश्चरण आदि कार्य शुद्ध होते हैं । कर्मों के नाश हेतु, मोक्ष प्राप्ति हेतु होते हैं ।
टीका - ये केचन स्वयम्बुद्धास्तीर्थकराद्यास्तीच्छिष्या वा बुद्धबोधिता गणधरा दयो 'महाभाग' महापूजाभाजो 'वीराः 'कर्म विदारण सहिष्णवो ज्ञानादिभिर्वा गुणैर्विराजन्त इति वीराः, तथा 'सम्यक्त्वदर्शिन: ' परमार्थ तत्ववेदिनस्तेषो

Or, a person with childish strength is called unwise. The word "bhaga" denotes worship or respect. Those who are worthy of worship and respect by people are called "maha-bhaga". They are renowned in the world. Those who are capable of breaking through the enemy's forces and defeating them are called "su-ghada".

**Ye cha buddha maha-bhaga vira samyaktva-darsinah. Sudham tesham parakrantam aphalam bhavati sarvashah.**

**Translation:** Those who are Buddhas - knowers of the true nature of things, maha-bhaga - worthy of respect, and vira - capable of breaking the bonds of karma, and who have right vision, their austerities and other actions are pure. They are for the destruction of karma and for the attainment of liberation.
