श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् । छाया - पृथिव्यपि जीवा आपोऽपि जीवाः प्राणाश्च सम्पातिमाः सम्पतन्ति ।
___ संस्वेदजाः काष्ठसमाश्रिताश्चै, तान् दहेदग्निं समारभमाणः ॥
अनुवाद - जो व्यक्ति अग्नि जलाता है, वह पृथ्वी काय जो स्वयं जीव रूप है, अपकाय-पानी, संपातिमआग में गिरकर जल जाने वाले, शलभ-पतंगे आदि स्वेदज-स्वेद या पसीने से उत्पन्न जीव तथा काठ में अवस्थित जीव-इन सबको जलाता है ।
टीका - न केवलं पृथिव्याश्रिता द्वीन्द्रियादयो जीवा यापि च पृथ्वी-मल्लक्षणा असावपि जीवा, तथा आपश्चद्रवलक्षणा जीवास्तदाश्रिताश्च प्राणाः 'सम्पातिमाः' शलभादयस्तत्र सम्पतन्ति, तथा 'संस्वेदजाः' करीषादिष्विन्धनेषु घुणपिपीलिकाकृम्यादयः काष्ठाद्याश्रिताश्च ये ये केचन ‘एतान्' स्थावरजङ्गमान् प्राणिनः स दहेत् योऽग्निकार्य समारभेत, ततोऽग्निकायसमारम्भो महादोषायेति ॥७॥
टीकार्थ - पृथ्वी में आश्रित द्वीन्द्रियादि जीवों के साथ-साथ मृत् या मृत्तिका रूप पृथ्वी कायिक जीव, द्रवलक्षण-तरल जल रूप अपकायिक जीव, जल में आश्रित जीव, आग में गिरकर जल जाने वाले शलभ, पतंगे आदि जीव, संस्वेदज-कंडे आदि ईंधन में उत्पन्न घुण, चींटी, कीड़े आदि जीव तथा काठ आदि में अवस्थित जीव-इन सभी स्थावर, जंगम प्राणियों को वह जलाता है, जो अग्नि का आरंभ करता है । यों अग्निकाय का समारंभ अत्यधिक दोषोत्पादक है । .
हरियाणि भूताणि विलंबगाणि, आहार देहा य पुढो सियाई । जे छिंदती आयसुहं पडुच्च, पागब्भि पाणे बहुणं तिवाती ॥८॥ छाया - हरितानि भूतानि विलम्बकानि, आहारदेहाय पृथक् भितानि ।
यच्छिनत्त्यात्मसुखं प्रतीत्य, प्रागल्भ्यात् प्राणानां बहुनामतिपाती ॥ अनुवाद - हरित-दूब एवं अंकुर आदि भी जीव हैं । वे वृक्षों की शाखाओं एवं पत्तों आदि में पृथक्पृथक् निवास करते हैं । अपने सुख के लिए जो उनका छेदन-व्यापादन करता है, वह प्रगल्भता-घृष्टतापूर्वक बहुत से प्राणियों का नाश करता है ।
टीका - एवं तावदग्निकायसमारम्भकास्तापसाः तथा पाकादनिवृत्ताः शाक्यादयश्चापदिष्टाः साम्प्रतं ते चान्ये वनस्पतिसमारम्भादनिवृत्ताः परामृश्यन्ते इत्याह-'हरितानि दुर्वाङ्करादीन्येतान्यप्याहारादेवृद्धिदर्शनात् 'भूतानि' जीवाः तथा 'विलम्बकानीति' जीवाकारं यान्ति विलम्बन्ति-धारयन्ति, तथाहि-कललार्बुमांसपेशीगर्भप्रसव बालकुमारयुवमध्यस्थविरावस्थातो मनुष्यो भवति, एवं हरितान्यपि शाल्यादीनि जातान्यभिनवानि संजातरसानि यौवनवन्ति परिपक्वानि जीर्णानि परिशुष्का णि मृतानि तथा वृक्षा अप्यकुरावस्थायां जाता इत्युपदिश्यन्ते मूलस्कन्धशाखाप्रशाखाभिर्विशेषैः परिवर्धमाना युवानः पोता इत्युपदिश्यन्त इत्यादि शेषास्वप्यवस्थास्वायोज्यं, तदेवं हरितादीन्यपि जीवाकारं विलम्बयन्ति, तत एतानि मूलस्कन्धशाखापत्रपुष्पादिषु स्थानेषु 'पृथक् ' प्रत्येकं श्रितानि व्यवस्थितानि, तु मूलादिषु सर्वेष्वपि समुदितेषु एक एव जीवः एतानि च भूतानि सङ्घयेयासङ्घयेयानन्तभेदभिन्नानि वनस्पतिकायाश्रितान्याहारोथं देहोपचर्यार्थ देहक्षतसंरोहणार्थं वाऽऽत्मसुखं प्रतीत्य' आश्रित्य यच्छिनत्तिस प्रागल्भ्यात्' धाष्टा वष्टम्भाद्वहनां प्राणिनामतिपाती भवति, तदतिपाताच्च निरनुक्रोशतया न धर्मो नाप्यात्मसुखमित्युक्तं भवति |८|| किञ्च -
