श्री सूत्रकृताङ्ग सूत्रम् शास्त्रकार उस कार्य का दिग्दर्शन कराते हुए कहते हैं कि वह त्रस तथा स्थावर आदि भेदयुक्त समस्त प्राणियों में किसी भी प्राणी की हिंसा न करें । वह जीव आदि तत्वों में निश्चिलत, स्थिर, अविचलदृष्टि, सम्यक दृष्टि धारण करता हुआ परिग्रह का वर्जन करता हुआ, जिसे लोग सुख हेतु चारों ओर से बटोरते रहते हैं, अशुभकर्म करने वाले अथवा अशुभ कर्मों का फल भोगने वाले जीवों के अथवा कषायों के स्वरूप को जाने, उनके वश में न हो । गाथा में आये तू शब्द में अथवा आदि एवं अन्त के उपादान से-ग्रहण से यहाँ मृषावाद, अदत्तादान और अब्रह्मचर्य के त्याग का भी आशय है ।
एवं तिरिक्खे मणुयासु (म) रेसुं, चतुरन्तऽणंतं तयणुव्विवागं । स सव्वमेयं इति वेदइत्ता, कंखेज कालं धुयमायरेजु ॥२५॥ त्तिबेमि॥ छाया - एवं तिर्यक्षु, मनुजासुरेसु, चतुरन्तमनन्तं तदनुविपाकम् । .. स सर्वमेतदिति विदित्वा काङ्क्षत काल ध्रुवमाचरेदिति ब्रवीमि ॥
अनुवाद - पापी पुरुष नरक गति में जाता है, ऐसा कहा गया है । इसी प्रकार तिर्यंच गति मनुष्य गति और देवगति के संदर्भ में भी तदनुसार जानना चाहिए । चतुर्गतियुक्त इस अनन्त संसार में कर्मानुरूप फल प्राप्त होता है । अतः विज्ञ पुरुष इसे समझकर आजीवन संयम का परिपालन करे ।।
टीका - ‘एवम्' इत्यादि एवमशुभकर्मकारिणामसुमतां तिर्यङ्मनुष्यामरेष्वपि 'चतुरन्तं' चतुर्गतिकम् 'अनन्तम्' अपर्यवसानं तदनुरूपं विपाकं 'स' बुद्धिमान् सर्वमेतदिति पूर्वोक्तया नीत्या 'विदित्वा' ज्ञात्वा 'ध्रुवं' संयममाचरन 'कालं' मृत्युकालमाकांक्षेत्, एतदुक्तं भवति-चतुर्गतिकसंसारान्तर्गतानामसुमतां दुःखमेव केवलं यतोऽतो ध्रुवो-मोक्षः संयमो वा तदनुष्ठानरतो यावज्जीवं मृत्युकालं प्रतीक्षेतेति, इतिः परिसमाप्तौ ब्रवीमीति पूर्ववत् ॥२५॥
टीकार्थ – जिन विशेष दुःखों की पूर्व में चर्चा की गई है, वे अन्यत्र भी होते हैं, यह व्यक्त करने हेतु सूत्रकार कहते हैं -
जो प्राणी अशुभ कर्म करते हैं, उनको तिर्यञ्च भव, मनुष्यभव और देवभव में ही चतुर्गतिक-अनन्त कर्म विपाकानुरूप फल प्राप्त होते हैं । इन सबको पहले कहे अनुसार बुद्धिमान पुरुष जाने तथा संयम का अनुसरण करता हुआ मृत्युकाल की आकांक्षा करे । कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि चतुर्गतिक संसार में आपतित प्राणियों को केवल दु:ख ही प्राप्त होता है । अतएव बुद्धिमान यावज्जीवन मोक्ष-संयम के अनुष्ठान में संलग्न रहे, यहाँ इति शब्द समाप्ति के अर्थ का बोधक है, ब्रवीमि पहले की ज्यों है ।
नरक विभक्ति नामक पांचवा अध्ययन समाप्त हुआ ।
