different subjects. He was a guest speaker at Jain Center of New Jersey's (U.S.A.) Paryushana Mahaparva celebrations in 1998. This was the first time he had to come Jain Center of New Jersey. People were very much impressed with his knowledge of Jain religion. This prompted Jain Center to ask Dr. Kumarpal Desai to be a guest speaker again in near future. This "near future" has turned out to be six years because of his popularity and commitments to the other Jain organizations around the world.
Dr. Kumarpal Desai has been also involved in creating 1st of its kind Encyclopedia in Gujarati language. This Encyclopedia has become very popular and useful to many who can not read English.
He is also involved in helping people who are unable to help themselves. It is really amazing to see that he is involved in many different fields that not only spreads Jain religion but also mankind.
He was one of the speakers at Mahavirswami's 2600th birth anniversary celebrations hosted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (USA) in 2002. His lectures and book on "A Journey of Ahimsa (From Bhagwan Mahavir to Mahatma Gandhi)" were well received. His teachings of Jain religion has played an important part in many people's lives. He has also helped many Jain organizations to raise funds to complete their projects.
The Padmashri awarded by The Government of India on 2004 Republic Day celebrations clearly recognizes the contributions made by Dr. Kumarpal Desai for people of India. Our congratulations and best wishes to him.
