Parliament of the Religions held at Captown in 1999. It highlights the importance of women who have played vital role in spreading Jainism among common people. They not only observed the vows strictly but also made their family members like, husband, mother-in-law, and others adopt the religion. This book is a good source of ispiration for women.
The Value and Heritage of Jain Religion shows how the Jain religion influenced the Indian society. It was Jain religion that emphasized the importance of non-violence, equality and equanimity, the doctrine of live and let live. These things were digested directly or indirectly by other sects or religions in India. The theory of Anekantvada is also an important contribution to Indology.
The Timeless Message of Bhagwan Mahavir is nothing but essence of sermons of Lord Mahavir delivered at different occasions to his disciples. Of course, it has not great message but what it gives is useful for daily life in modern age. That is the reason it is called Timeless Message.
Kshamapana, as the word expresses, treats a particular conduct of a Jain follower, in which one aks for forgiveness for one's misdeeds, if done in any circumstance, deliberately or otherwise. This is done at the end of Samvatsari festival or Paryushan. Godliness in humanity, Formal Forgiveness Categories of men, A mine of all virtues are important topics dealt with. Though it is a small book, it contains serious subjects.
Vegetarianism is a dialogue of Prof. Desai with Stella Maria and other people of Belgium. Prof. Desai refutes the conception of non-veg. foods and make them adopt vegetarian food. He tells them about the harmful and fatal consequences of non-veg. foods and enumerates astonishing benefits of vegetarian food.
This is not the limit. Prof. Desai has written many other books on Jain related subjects, but it is not possible to reviewe them here. The sublimity of the personality of Prof. Desai is beyond doubt. I wish, he should progress still more. May God bless him with strengeth and long life so that he can serve the society with his pen more and more.
