छन्दोदर्शनम्
द्वितीया ऋक् ।
योऽग्रे बृह॒स्पति॒स्तपसाऽऽत्मनि
छन्दसि विदा विश्वान्यभ्य॑पश्यत् ॥
छन्दोभिर्विश्वमिदं होजनयत्
स स॑त्या॒ऽयमभृतो॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दाः ॥ २ ॥
यः। अप्रै। बृह॒स्पति॑ः । तप॑सा । आत्मनि । छन्दसि । विदा | विश्वानि । अभि । अपश्यत् ॥ छन्द॑ऽभिः। विश्व॑म् | इ॒दम् । हि । अजनयत् । सः। सत्यः । अयम् । अमृतः । विश्ववेदाः ॥
In the beginning Bṛhaspati, with the help of tapas and knowledge, saw within himself all the Vedas and the worlds. He created the universe with the aid of the mantras. He is the truth, he is immortal and omniscient.

यः वेदोपनिषदादिषु प्रसिद्धः बृहस्पतिः बृहत्या: छन्दोरूपायाः वाचः अधिपतिः स्वयं सन् तपसा अन्तर्विमर्शन निर्विषयात्मकेन योगेन समाधिरूपेण विदा प्रज्ञानदृशा विश्वा छन्दास गायत्र्यादीनि तथा गायत्र्यादिच्छन्दोनिबन्धनसिद्धानि मन्त्ररूपाणि वाङ्मयानि अभि अपश्यत् आभिमुख्येन आत्मनि प्रत्यक्षं सन्ददर्श, अपि च यः पुनः छन्दसा तेनैव प्रत्यक्ष ब्रह्मरूपेण मन्त्रेण विश्वं इदं सर्वं जगत् अजनयत् सर्गादौ जनयामास ॥ सोऽयं अन्तरात्मा सत्य: अमृतः विश्ववेदाः सर्ववेदसंवित्सर्वपूर्णोऽस्तीति ॥
COMMENTARY--SUMMARY TRANSLATION
He is Bṛhaspati, well-known in the Vedas. He is the lord of Vak, who is Brhati, a metrical form. By tapas, by meditation, he perceived all the Vedas and the metres in which they are composed, such as Gayatri, etc. Further, with the help of mantras which is the visible Brahma, he created this universe. This inner soul is truth, he is immortal and omniscient.

योऽधि छन्दोभिरृषी' नजनयच्छन्द॑स॒वानु॒ ऋषि॑षु॒ प्रवि॑ष्टः ॥
