छन्दोदर्शनम
अत्र सर्वत्रापि परमैश्वर्यपूर्णस्य तस्य इन्द्रस्य एकस्यैव ऋगीभूतः अन्येषां सर्वेषां सर्वेभ्योऽपि ऋणेभ्यो विमुच्यते इत्यर्थः अनुसन्धेयः॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION There is a debt I owe to the elements, earth, fire, water etc. for bearing me, giving me life etc. Likewise, I owe a debt to all men, whom I have met in various places and conversed with. To them also I owe a debt whom I have not met but who have extended their help to me in various forms. Having liquidated all that debt, I am now indebted to Indra only. My debt now is to him only who is full of wealth here and everywhere. He who accepts Indra's debt will be freed from all other debts due to all others. I seek him only for peace and happiness.
नवमी ऋक् । यत् पृथिव्या मम धरित्र्याऽऽहितं यदग्नेक्रणं गृहपतेर्मयि ॥ इन्द्रस्यैव ऋणी भवान्यनृणोऽन्याद्
. इन्द्रमेव तं वृणे शङ् गमध्यै ॥ ९॥ पदपाठः- यत् । पृथिव्या । मम । धरिया । आऽहितम् ।
यत् । अग्नेः । ऋणम् । गृहऽपतेः। मर्यि ।। इन्द्रस्य । एव । ऋणी । भवानि । अन॒णः । अन्यात् ।
इन्द्रम् । एव । तम् । वृणे । शम् । गमध्यै ॥ The debt I owe to Prthvi ( the earth) who bears me, and that to Agni, the lord of the earth, is there. For being free from those debts, I am indebted to Indra only. I seek only Indra for peace and welfare.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। मम धरित्र्याः धारयित्र्याः सर्वाधारभूताया: भूमातुः, तथा पृथिव्या: अधिपतेः अग्नेः देवतात्मनः यत् मयि ऋणं निहितम् भवति, अत्र “अग्निर्वै गृहपतिः सोऽस्य लोकस्य गृहपतिः” इति ब्राह्मणम् (ऐ ब्रा.), तस्य अग्नेः अत्र बहिः धान्याद्युत्पादनेन तत्पाकादिसाधनेन च तथा यज्ञादिनिष्पत्त्या च उपकाररूपं ऋणं भवति, तथैव अन्तरपि वैश्वानररूपेण अन्नादिपचनेन च यत् ऋणं मयि निहितं तस्मात् सर्वस्मादपि ऋणात् विमुक्तः अनृणः सन् इन्द्रस्यैव ऋणी भवानि इति ॥
