छन्दोदर्शनम्
237 अत्र क्षयति इत्यस्य ऐश्वर्यार्थकः वैदिको धातुः | " इरज्यति, पत्यते, क्षयति, राजतीति चत्वार ऐश्वर्यकर्माणः " (नि. २-२०) इति, “ इन्द्रो यातोऽवसितस्य राजा । सेदु राजा क्षयति चर्षणीनाम्० " (ऋ. मं. १-३२-१५), " यो विश्वस्य क्षयति भेषजस्य " (ऋ. मं. ५-४२.११) इति च तदनुश्रवणम् ॥
यश्च विश्वाः शुचः सर्वान् शोकान् प्रशमयति प्रकर्षण निःशेषेण च शान्ति प्रति नयति आत्यन्तिकी शोकनिवृत्तिं भावयति साधकेभ्यः, तं तादृशं इन्द्रं परममात्मानमेव तादृशं कल्याणं प्राप्तं वृणे समाश्रये इति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION He is reputed as a ruler of all in general. He helps seekers to get things which they require. Yoga means realisation of human ideals ( purushärtha ) as also the acquisition of unattained objects. Yoga also means union with the supreme soul and attainment of Samadhi. Indra is the ruler of the whole universe capable of protecting what is acquired. He removes all sorrows completely root and branch. I take refuge in Indra only to get peace and happiness.
पञ्चमी ऋक् । यो असौ भगः सुभगो यो भगवान् भगवत्पतियों भगवत्तमः ॥ यो वा भगस्यैव दाता सत्पति
रिन्द्रमेव तं वृणे शङ् गमध्यै ॥ ५॥ पदपाठः- यः । असौ । भगः । सुऽभगः । यः । भगऽवान् ।
भगवत्ऽपतिः । यः । भगवत्ऽतमः ॥ यः । वा । भगस्य । एव । दाता । सत्ऽपतिः।
इन्द्रम् । एव । तम् । वृणे । शम् । गमध्यै ॥ Indra is indeed wealth. He is wealthy and full of all wealth. He is the king of wealth, and controls all wealth. He is the highest among the wealthy and he is the wealthiest of all. He is indeed the giver of wealth and he is a good ruler. Only him I seek for peace and happiness.
