COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Indra repeats " IM", the form of Vak, the supreme and imperishable. With that Vāk in the form of the highest mantra, he praises Brahma, the Object Supreme. So, that letter is said to be Pranava. I repeat that secret Pranava, the seed-letter and practise tapas intensely. I seek Indra who manifests himself as a result of the repetition of that secret Praņava in order to get all the good fortune.
पञ्चमी ऋक् । य ई स्वरन्तं गुह्यमनु स्वरन् ओमिति स्वरां वाचमुञ्चरति ॥ तस्येदमक्षरमनु तपस्यन्
सेन्द्रमेव तं वृणे शङ् गमध्यै ॥ ५ ॥ पदपाठ :- यः ई इति । स्वरन्तम् । गुह्यम् । अनु । स्वरन् ।
ओम् इति । इति । स्वरोम् । वाचम् । उत्ऽचरति । तस्य॑ । इदम् । अक्षरम् । अर्नु । तपस्यन् । सः । इन्द्रम् । एव । तम् । वृणे । शम् । गमध्यै ॥
He utters the word “İM” which is the greatest secret Mantra. While doing so, he utters the word "Om", also which is more explicit. Ifollow Him in practising tapas with the help of "Om". I seek Indra alone to get peace of soul.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। यः इन्द्रः परमेश्वरः इति प्रसिद्धः ई इति एतत् अक्षरं गुह्यं आत्मनि अन्तरेव स्वरन्तं आत्मानमेव अनुसृत्य स्वग्न् पुनः ओं इति प्रसिद्धां अनुकरणात्मिकां प्रणवाभिधां वाचं वारपां स्वरां स्वरानाम्नी स्ववाचकां शक्तिं उच्चरति ध्वनयति, तस्य तदिदं ओङ्काररूपं प्रणवाक्षरं अनुसृत्य अवलम्ब्य तपस्यन् तज्जपेन तदर्थानुसन्धानेन तदनुध्यानादिना च पुनः तपः समाचरन् सः अयमहं तं निजं प्रणवाक्षरमनुस्वरन्तमेव इन्द्रं परमं स्वं आत्मानं वृणे शं गमध्ये आत्मशान्तये शरणं व्रजामीति ॥
