COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Venerable one, you are Sarasvati, full of delight and you are my feeder. You sing about Brahma. I am your son emulating you. Please make me chant with all my heart whatever you sing. Let all that be expressed in words set in metres. They are the mantras in the form of Sama chants. Vak is the mother of all. She can bestow happiness of the best kind.
षष्ठी ऋक् ।
सरस्वती त्वं रसैन सत्त्वेन स्वेन सह च्छन्दसा मामन्वाविंशात्मना । छन्द एवानु गाय हृदा गाययान्त
र्वाग् विदा परमा पुरुषस्य माता ॥ ६ ॥ पदपाठ :- सरस्वती । त्वम् । रसैन । सत्त्वैन । स्वेन ।
सह । छन्दसा । माम् । अनु । आऽविश । आत्मना ।। छन्दः। एव । अनु । गाय । हृदा । गायय । अन्तरिति । वाक् । विदा । परमा । पुरुषस्य । माता ।।
Oh Sarasvati ! enter into me with your whole essence, your ecstatic delight and all, in the form of metrical compositions. Make me sing the same with a full heart. Vāk is the mother and measure of the Supreme Purusha on account of the power of knowledge.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। हे भगवति ! त्वं सरस्वती स्वयं रसमयी सती स्वेन निजेन सत्त्वेन रसेन आनन्देन सर्वसारभूतेन वाग्रसेन प्रेमरसेन च छन्दसा वेदेन सस्वरेण मन्त्रेण आत्मना चेतनस्वरूपेण सह मां इमं वागुपासकं त्वद्भक्तं अन्वाविश प्रविश, तथा तत् सस्वरं छन्दः छन्दोमयं मन्त्रमेव अनुगाय समभावान्वितेन सामस्वरादिना, तथा तवैव वाचा मामपि गायय, मम हृदा मुखेनापि तद्गायनं कारय इति भावः, यतः सा त्वं वागेव पुरुषस्य परमा प्रकृष्टा हिततमा माता मातेव पुत्रलालन-पालनादिप्रियेति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Venerable one, you are Sarasvati, full of pure delight. Enter into me with all your ecstacy which is the essence of all being. Enter me in the form of mantra, properly composed in a metrical form. Please chant the wellaccented notes of the Sāma in harmony with my heart. Make me also chant the same.
