छन्दोदर्शनम
अष्टमी ऋक सरस्वति त्वं वस्तु विश्वतस्परं ब्रह्मेत्येवाभि धत्से शक्त्या स्वया ॥ प्रमात्री त्वं प्रतिमा माता ब्रह्मणो
वाक् परमा ज्योतिर्विश्वस्य दर्शयत् ॥ ८ ॥ पदपाठ :- सरस्वति । त्वम् । वस्तु । विश्वतः । परम् ।
ब्रह्म । इति । एव । अभि । धत्से । शक्त्या । स्वया ।। प्रऽमात्री । त्वम् । प्रतिऽमा । माता । ब्रह्मणः ।
वाक् । परमा । ज्योतिः। विश्वस्य । दर्शयत् ॥ ___Oh Sarasvati ! you are all-pervading. With your power of expression, you give us the knowledge of that which is beyond the universe, namely Brahma. You are His proof, you are His image, you are His measure. You are indeed Våk, the light that illumines the universe.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। हे सरस्वति ! त्वं विश्वतः अस्मात् सर्वस्मात् परि उपरि परत: परोक्षतया प्रतिष्टितम् , तथा परितः सर्वतः अत्र व्याप्तम् , तत् परं अप्रत्यक्षमपि सद् वस्तु शक्तया सामर्थ्य न वाचकत्वसत्त्वेन युक्ता पूर्णा सती ब्रह्म इति शब्देन अभिधत्से सज्ञापयसि, तस्मात् हे वाक् ! सा त्वं ब्रह्मणः परोक्षस्यापि तस्य सद्वस्तुनः प्रमात्री प्रमाणभूता, प्रतिमा प्रतीकरूपा माता तद्विज्ञानादिसत्त्वाभ्युदयकारणभूता सा परा वागेव विश्वस्य अस्य दर्शयत् प्रकाशकं ज्योतिः, तथा तत्परञ्ज्योतिःस्वरूपा वाक् इति च तस्या: सरस्वत्याः वाग्देवतायाः पराशक्तेः परमं मातत्वस्वरूपतत्त्वं नित्यं वस्तसिद्धमिति ॥
॥ इति द्वितीयेऽनुवाके पञ्चमं सरस्वतीसूक्तम् समाप्तम् ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Sarasvati ! you who are full of expressive power, declare the Thing beyond this universe as Brahma. Though the Thing is beyond the reach of the senses, you express It in words as Bralıma. You possess such power. Therefore, you are the proof of that invisible Thing. You are Brahma's image; you are Mătă-the source of knowledge leading to Him. You are that invisible Vak, the light par excellence, that illumines all.
Thus ends the fifth hymn in the second Section.
