उभये काल पुणो सज्झाओ होदि कायव्वो ॥ २७० प्रादोषिकवैरात्रिकगौसर्गिककालमेव गृहीत्वा ।
उभये काले पुनः स्वाध्यायः भवति कर्तव्यः ॥ २७० ॥ अर्थ - प्रादोषिककाल, वैरात्रिक, गोसर्गकाल - इन चारों कालोंमेंसे दिनरातके पूर्वकाल अपरकाल इन दोकालोंमें खाध्याय करना चाहिये || भावार्थ - जिसमें रातका भाग है वह प्रदोषकाल है अर्थात् रातके पूर्वभाग के समीप दिनका पश्चिमभाग वह सुबह शाम दोनों कालोंमें प्रदोषकाल जानना | आधीरात के वाद दो घड़ी वीतजानेपर वहांसे लेकर दो घड़ी रात रहे तबतक कालको वैरात्रिककाल कहते हैं । दो घड़ी दिन चढनेके वादसे लेकर मध्याह्नकाल में दो घड़ी कम रहें उतने कालको गोसर्गिककाल कहते हैं । इनमेंसे प्रदोषकालको छोड़कर दोकालोंमें पठनपाठन करना चाहिये ॥ २७० ॥
सज्झाये पट्टवणे जंघच्छायं वियाण सत्तपयं । goat अवरहे तावदियं चेव णिट्ठवणे ॥ २७९ ॥ स्वाध्याये प्रस्थापने जंघच्छायां विजानीहि सप्तपदां । पूर्वा अपराह्ने तावत्कं चैव निष्ठापने ॥ २७९ ॥ अर्थ — खाध्याय के आरंभ करनेमें सूर्यके उदय होनेपर दोनों जांघोंकी छाया सात विलस्त प्रमाण जानना । और सूर्यके अस्त होनेके कालमें भी सात विलस्त छाया रहे तब स्वाध्याय समाप्त करना चाहिये ॥ २७१ ॥
आसाढे दुपदा छाया पुरसमासे चदुप्पदा । वढदे हीयदे चावि मासे मासे दुअंगुला ॥ २७२ ॥
