3727 AZTEET as if the second Patala alone constituted the Vamsabrāhmaṇa. The commentary of Sāyaṇācārya is for the second Patala alone. So it may be said that the Vamśabrāhmana did not originally include the first Patala, But against this view may be said that there are certain MSS, which give the first Patala at the end of the second and that Sāyaṇa may have omitted to comment on that portion as he considered it to be easy,

Contains the commentaries of Vamsabrāhmaṇa (second Patala alone), fol. 3a, Dēvatādhyāyabrāhmaṇa fel. 8 a and Samhitopanişadbrähmaņa. The commentary is by the famous Sāyaṇācārya.
From the passage occurring in the beginning of the commentary on the Vamsa Brāhmaṇa we learn that Sāyaṇa commented on this Brāhmaṇa after finishing his commentaries on the other seven Brāhmaṇas of the Sama Vēda whose names are given in the passage. Owing to the much injured condition of the MS. under notice it was restored in 1896 and the new transcript is noticed lower down.
