The above eight Brähmaņas are referred to in a passage occurring in the beginning of the commentary of Sāyaṇācārya on the Vamsa Brāhmana. Vide. No. 66.
The Praudha Brāhmaṇa consists of twenty-five Prapāthakas ; the Sadvimsa, five; the Simavidhana, five; the Arseya, three ; the Dēvatādhyāya, five ; the Chãndõgya, ten; th Samhitöpanişad, five; and the Vamsi consists of two Patalas the first of which is divided into six and the second into three Khandas. Beginning:

हरिः ओम् । महन्मे वोचो भर्गों मे वोचो यशो मे वोचरस्तोमम्मे वोचो भुक्तिम्मे वोचस्तर्वम्मे वोचस्तम्मावतु तन्मा विशतु तेन भुक्षिपीय देवो देवमेतु सोमस्सोममेत्सृत्य)तस्य पथा विहाय दौषत्यं बद्वानामासि स्रुतिस्तोमसरणीः सोमङ्गमेयं पितरो भूः पितरो भूः पितरो भूः ॥ End: ___य एतदुपयन्ति तदेत विश्वमृजां सहस्त्रसंवत्सरमेन वै विश्वसृजस्सर्वामृद्धिमार्बुवन् सर्वामृद्धिमृध्रुवन्ति य एतदुपयन्ति ॥ ५ ॥ तृतीयो ऽध्यायः ॥
