पार्वत्युवाच ।
पूर्वजन्मकृतं कर्म कथं ज्ञास्यन्ति पण्डिताः ।
इति मे हि देवेश कृपया करुणानिधे । शिव उवाच ।
ग्रहराशिनवांशाद्यैः दृष्ट्वा दृष्टिबलाबलैः ।
पूर्वजन्मकृतं कर्म ज्ञास्यन्ति बुद्धिमत्तः ॥ 6B, इति श्रौलोमश द्वितीयोऽध्यायः । 7A, शिव उवाच ।
प्टा देवि प्रवक्ष्यामि सुरहस्यं कथानकम् । वङ्गराजस्य चरितं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम् ॥ आसीत् कृतयुगे राजा नाम्ना कीर्तिध्वजो बली ।
धर्मज्ञः सारवक्ता च कृतज्ञश्च दृढव्रतः ॥ 12A, इति श्रौलोमश विप्रागमनं नाम टतीयोऽध्यायः । 16A, लोमशाश्रमे विप्रगमनो नाम चतुर्थोऽध्यायः ।
King of Vanga had two sons, who, although born exactly at one and the same moment, were altogether of different characters and temperaments. Being very anxious to account for the discrepancies, the king was advised by the munis to consult Sumati, the greatest living astrologer. But as he was dead and gone, the messenger of the king brought his son, Sujanmā. But he, although proficient in all other śāstras, was found absolutely innocent of Jyotişa and was put to shame. To learn Jyotişa he went to Lomasa at Badarikāśrama and, after preliminary instructions, was initiated into the mysteries of the science of Jyotisa. 22A, इत्युपादिश्य भगवान् लोमशो द्रुहिणात्मजः ।
आदौ तु जातकं सम्यक् प्रवक्तुमुपचक्रमे ॥ 22A, इति श्रौलोमशसंहितायां पशिसाहस्यां संहितायां श्रौशिवपार्वतीसंवादे प्रथमोत्थाने पंचमोऽध्यायः ।
