The present MS has been described in L. X. 4265. The work consists of two parts. The first part in 87 chapters is divided into two kalpas-Sārasvatakalpa (chapters 1–82) and Syāmākalpa (chapters 83–87). The second part in 33 chapters is divided into five kalpasMāheśao (chapters 1-9), Gāņeśao (chapters 10–18), Vaişņavao (chapters 19-25), Saurao (chapter 26) and Sāktao (chapters 27-33).

The work is called by different names in different places. In the beginning of the present MS it is called Mahacinatantrakrama (अथ महाचौनतन्त्रक्रमो लिख्यते)। The last colophon (
T AT HEITERT statiunea TRHelah 49: UCRT) calls it Cīnācāra and states that it forms part of the Acārasāra. The present MS runs up to the end of the fifth chapter of the work. IO. IV. 2563 contains 7 chapters. The work has been printed in the Vividhatantrasamgraha in five Patalas under the title Mahācīnācāratantra. Several verses given in Chatterji's edition of the work after the end of the fifth chapter are not found in any of the MSS of the work described here.
