The anthor was a Telugu Brahmin living on the banks of the Krsna, in the district of Erana. He belonged to the Kasyapagotra and the Rk bakha. The family name of this author was Caraßūri. The following particulars could be gathered of his ancestry-In the Carakūri family there was one Timine Somaydjin who was master of eight languages and had a title ta that effect. He had a son by.nama Yajnesvara. This Yagieśvara married one Sarvāmbikā, and they had four sons born to them. The eldest was Roņdubhalla, the author of a work called Şaddarbanitativaviveka. The second was Laksmidhara, who later on becaine a sanyasin, under the name of Rämäpandāśrama and he is the author of the present commentary. ॥ अभिज्ञानशाकुन्तलम् ॥ 4270. ABHIJÑĀNAŠĀKUNTALÀM.
