that Kaviraja is older than Rajasekhara and consequently he should have belonged to a period anterior to the 10th century A.D.
The Raghavapandaviya is a Kavya wherein every stanza is capable of a double interpretation, one applicable to Rams and the other applicable to Krana.
A commentary on this by one Lakemana is noticed under No. 3781.
MAHARUDRASIHMA.
The Vijnanatarangipt described under No. 3786 is the only work of Maharudrasihma that has come down to us. Beyond this we do not know much of the author."
VIRARAGHAVA.
There are many Viraraghavas known to us. Many are noted in our catalogue. The present writer is the son of Vina Venkatapati, who is himself the son of one Nelluri Rangamantrin. The name suggests that he might have been an Andhra, settled in the Tamil Districts in the 17th century.
NILAKANTHA DĪKSITA.
Sri Nilakantha Dikeita is the illustrious grandson of the brother of the famous Appayya Diksita. It is said that when Appayya Dikaita died Nilakantha was a boy of 12. As a result of the blessings of the Diksita, young Nilakantha soon rose to eminence and became the minister of the Nayaks of Madura. After retiring from service, he settled in the village of Palamadai in the Tinnevelly District, where his descendents are still seen, (the editor of this catalogue being himself eighth in descent from Sri Nilakantha himself).
