ĀPASTAMBASRAUTA.
Several writers have commented upon this sūtra. It is worthy of note that inany of the commentators did not comment upon the whole but only in parts. Complete commentaries are very few.
Rudradatta, Caundapācārya, Dhürtagvāmin, Karvindasvamin, Kapardisvamin, and Sundararája, are some of the commentators whose works are preserved here. The commentary of Rudradatta, whom tradition identifies with Haradatta, has already been published in the Bibliotheca Indica ; Dhūrtasvāmin's Paribbākā and Kapardin's Paribhāvā too have been printed. The rest are not available in print. Of the others, Cauqdapācārya is known to have lived in the court of the Vijayanagar Kings (First dynasty.)
BODHĀYANASRAUTA. . Bhavagvāmin, Sāyaṇācārya, Mabādevavājapeyin, Bälädskaita, Väsudeva Dikeita, Venkatesvaradikşita, Gopāls, Dvārakānāthayajvan etc., have commented upon the Bodhảyanaśrautabūtra. Of these Bhavasyāmin's is by far the oldest. Dr, Burnell conjec - tures that he night have been living in the 8th century or thereabouts, but without very strong reasons. Sāyaṇa, we all know, was living in Vijayanagara between 1320----1380 A.D. Mahādeva, Balādikçita, Vāsudeva Dikçita and Venkateśvardikşita were proteges of the Tanjore Court and were the best paņdits of those days. Vasudeva Diksita is the author of the famous Bälamanorami. Venkatesvara Dikşita was the teacher of Nilakantha Dīkşita. Nos. 2058--2071 describe these commentaries on the Bodhāyanasrauta.
