copy was written in 1586 A. D., and therefore the work should be
much older. What his exact date is, we cannot say now.
Much has been recently written about Sadgurusiqya and his date. In the Introduction to Volume 111 of the Descriptive catalogue of Sanskrit Manuscripts in the Tanjore Library attention has been drawn to some of the particulars that are known of Sadgurusisya. His commentary on the Asvalayauasrauta has not yet come out in print.
SANKHĀYĀNASRAUTA.
Nārāyana's commentary alone is found in this library. It is very likely that this Nārāyana is the same as the commentator on the Ābvalāyanabrautasūtra. This Ms. (No. 2040) is dated 1529 Samvat (1472 A.D.) It is very likely that it is the date of the copying of the work and not that of the author. At any rate, it suggests the lower limit of Nārāyana.
DRAHYAYANASRAUTA.
The Dráhyāyanasrauta of the S&maveding has been already bublished with the commentary of Dhanvin. This Dhanvin belonged to the Kabyapagotra and he has termed his commentary
-Dipa, which kind of nomenclative is rarely met with in ancient commentaries. No. 2011 describes a copy of this work,
LATYAYANASRAUTA.
Agnigvāmin has commented upon the Lātyāyanaśrauta and No. 2042 describes that work. This too has been printed already in the Biblotheca Indica, Caloutta.
It may be observed here that the sūtra toxt of the Läļyāyana and Drahyāyana Srauta agree closely, though the commentary of Agnisvamin and that of Dhanvin differ very much from each other
