Hiranyakeģisutra. Of late, it has been taken up for publication in tbe Anandásrama Sanskrit Series and has been nearly printed off. The author is the great-grandson of the author of the Mahigabataka, who is another Vāncheśvara. The work was began in baka 1758 or A. D. 1816.
Among the independent works on Srauta special mention may be made of the works of Tālavfntanivasin, Sayang and other writers.
TĀLAVỐNTANIVĀSIN.
There is some slight discrepency in the spelling of this name. Most manuscripts give the name as Tālavịntanivásin, whereas one manuscript gives it as Tālabțndanivāsin. (No. 2585.) The difference may be taken to be, in ordinary cases like this, due to scriptorial errors; but this particular instance seems to fall outside the scope of those errors. Perhaps the name ought to be pronounced Talabsada, meaning a place like Panankudi or something siinilas to that. Nos. 2574—2598 with the exception of No. 2578 deal with Tālavşataniväsin's works. He is otherwise known as Apdapillai or Andapillayār. He was evidently a south Indian and Andapillyar is the titular deity in Panankudi near Kumbbakonam.
Sāyana, the famous commentator on the Vedas, is known to have been a master in the Srautavidyā through a number of books. His commentary on the Bodhāyanaśrauta has been referred to already. His Yajñatantrasudhänidhi-is a work of rare merit. Nog. 2599-2603 deal with that work.
Kesavas vāmin is a well known figure in Srauta literaturo and his works are represented by Nos. 2604-2611. Who this Kebavasyamin is, we are not very certain. A Keśavasvāmin, as the
