The plot of the drama is the marriage between Varavara or God Ranganātha and Väsalaksmī, well-kuown as Goddess Urayür-Näyccipār, who was born as the daughter of Niculadēvi and Dharmavarman, King of Niculāpuri or Usayur. The drama is said to have been enacted in the vernal festival of God Viraråghava of Tiruvallūr. The author is Ramānajācārya, son of Śaraņāmācārya of Vādbūlagötra. He is said to have had the reputation to the effect that Goddess Lakşmi used to speak to him in person. His other works are Virarågbavakanakavallivivāba, Vēdapădarāmāyaṇa, Rāmāyaṇacampu, Siddhantasāra, Sukavăcika and Vārdbikanyāpariņaya (Lakşmikalyāņa). He is the same as the uncle and teacher of Rāmānujadāsa, author of the Rāmānujacampu (vide No. 12340 ante). Beginning :
